We are in the latter steps, but have lost focus. I recently started saving MORE so that we *can* take that vacation someday. Thanks for posting that encouragement!
As others said, read The Total Money Makeover. I can confirm the plan WORKS. Period. The plan works IF you work the plan.
We started with about $120,000 in debt and a negative net worth. We have all that paid off, money in savings and 401-k and have been working to pay off the house. That will be done in about 3 years.
I would also recommend attending Financial Peace University, though not necessary to be successful at the plan.
