The phone in my office rang and when I picked up, the voice on the other end said, Hi, its Jesse, I heard you wanted to talk to me. Yes, in fact, I did want to speak with Jesse James of JJFU (Jesse James Firearms Unlimited). You might recognize the name from his famous motorcycles (West Coast Choppers TV series) or cars (Monster Garage TV series), but our interest was solely based on his seemingly new passion for guns.
If you do not know, James started manufacturing firearms (and why not?), predominantly 1911s and AR-15s, at the end of 2013 in Austin, Texas, and has been going strong ever since. We have been following JJFU since its inception and reached out to our readers to find out what you would want to know, now that James shop has been up and running. We took all of your questions and created a great interview. Read the rest of Jesse James interview here.
If I recall right, this “Mr. Jesse James” has no biological link to the family of the famous/infamous predecessor. He does trade on the name though.
Well, it’s his name, I suppose.
Is that true? I remember him saying he was directly related. I have no idea, but thats what his marketing has stated.
Scary nut job. Is he really not a felon?
No, I don’t think he is.
I had seen him on an episode of Sons of Guns a few years ago on which he got a fully automatic extremely nice customized BAR.
He seemed like a genuine gun enthusiast, seems like an alright guy.
“I had seen him on an episode of Sons of Guns a few years ago...”
I’m going on what I saw of him on his motorcycle shows. He seemed like a very bright, very talented, but totally out of control guy. If he didn’t have any felony convictions, I’ll bet 75% of his friends did.
His craft work beat the pants off those Orange County Choppers cretins.
If I recall correctly from the show he fashioned the aluminum pieces on the gun that replaced the original wood. He crafted them so that they fit his hands exactly, then he sent them off to his engraver for the finish work on them.
Apparently he has been wielding since a very young age.
He claims to be distantly related to THE Jesse James, but from all I can see, he’s not much more than an over-inked blowhard. What can you say about a guy who cheats on Sandra Bullock?
Much as I think JJ is a douche, you’re right about that. His bikes are vastly more creative than Teutels’ Tinker Toys.
“What can you say about a guy who cheats on Sandra Bullock?”
Somebody had to say it. :-)
This excerpt from wiki:
“Family and relationships[edit]
James’ Discovery Channel website states that his great-great-grandfather was the notorious outlaw’s cousin.[9] However, Eric James, president of the James Preservation Trust, which tracks claims of being a relative of the outlaw, says it cannot find a record of him in the family tree, and has asked him to provide a family genealogy and DNA sample for the Trust to review; he has not provided the requested information.[10][11][12]”
It is his name and his claim, which he has refused to substantiate with a DNA sample, as the James Family Trust requested.

Do I get in trouble for excerpts?
Why Austin? If you want to manufacture armaments in Texas you go to San Antonio (aircraft and missiles excepted).
