Thanks for the post. Interesting. I can’t remember the last time I had a Budwater (it’s been several years). I’m only drinking craft beers…in particular IPAs and doubleIPAs.
In almost every country the preferred beer is not the best, but the most advertised.
The only partial exception is Ireland where the most advertised beer happens also to be good.
Though on a trip to Ireland a while back I saw a lot of Irishmen drinking Heineken.
Bud Lite. Effete beer. Not a good sign for American manhood.

My English buddies drink Budweiser, go figure.
Here in B.C., we are blessed with dozens of micro-breweries, all of them producing a good range of drinkable beers.
I was raised on Old Style back in the ‘60s, switched to Granville Island IPA in the ‘80s, and now prefer Okanagan Springs Porter.
It sticks to the ribs as well as clocking in at 8% alcohol!
Nobody I know drinks Budweiser, except long necks whilst on a Nevada holiday!

We went to a very small Cay in the Bahamas. The place we stayed had a gal that did everything, checked you in, showed you to your room, and then was bartender for before dinner. She was in our room one morning before we were headed into the small town to buy liquor. She said....oh since you are headed to the liquor store can you bring me back something imported? We asked what she wanted and she said Bud Lite. We laughed our tails off and said.....really?

Heineken is ubiquitous in Holland, but Amstel Light is much better.

Those are my choices, in order of preference. I also have some other favorites: San Miguel, Pilsner Urquell, Orion, Fosters, Guinness, Yuengling, Widmer Brothers Hefe - in no particular order.
I do NOT like ANYTHING Budweiser (except for Bud Light Platinum).
Re: German beer
I don’t even recognize the beer label they’ve pasted over Germany on that map. Also, in Germany, it makes no sense to limit yourself to just one brand/flavor when it’s so regionalized. The best beer I had when I was there so many years ago was the original Budweiser/Budvar from the Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic.
I recently had some Leinenkugel from the tap with their Summer Shandy and found it to be quite tasty and satisfying for a post-golf thirst, along with a really great burger. I know some don’t care for “flavored” beers but this one gets it right, IMO.
A home brew I made one time turned out very much like a Mexican Amber Ale and I found it quite drinkable.
