What's the Basis for Disbelief that there is a Human Nature?
Freep | 5/29/2015 | Charles O'Connell

What if I decided I'm tired of paying $3.50 a gallon for gas, I'm just going to fill up with the garden hose? I'm perfectly free to do that, but somehow the car's designer might not think that's such a great idea. How do we decide if there is a plan on which we're based? Disbelief in a human nature is usually accompanied by belief that we can alter our wiring just by pretending or believing that it's so. What a poor god I am, with the world in such a mess, it must just be my fault for not fully realizing my divinity. Still, Einstein's definition of insanity might have some relevance here: Continuing to perform the same non-productive actions and being continually surprised that they produce adverse outcomes.

Actually the designer of your car doesn’t care
if you fill it with water, it just won’t run.

Of course, somewhere there is a liberal who will want
to put a warning sticker on the car warning against
filling it with water...

However that same liberal will discount the fact that an X or Y chromosome makes a boy or a girl.

What's the Basis for Disbelief that there is a Human Nature?

Desire. The left has never believed in human nature, not since they got that name from the seating arrangement in the French National Assembly. They are all Rousseauians, and believe that Man is a tabula rasa. The fancy that human beings can be made into anything they want (emphasis on want), because we don't really have a nature, just an aggregation of social conventions that can be changed.

It's actually very funny the way they use neo-Darwinism as a creation myth and shibboleth -- and that's what they use it as, not as a real scientific theory. If they really believed it was a scientific account of human origins, they'd have to believe in what is says about human nature, things like human young requiring many years of upbringing it is biologically desirable to produce a lasting social bond between their biological parents so that they are raise by adult humans most genetically similar to them (traditional marriage is grounded in biology, not religion or social convention, something Jesus noted in His remarks on the subject). They'd know that it is absurd to expect ability distributions to be the same in human populations whose ancestors faced different selection pressures over tens of millenia, and would therefore not believe that all difference sin social outcomes between such groups must necessarily be due to racism. They'd also not spend so much effort on Darwinian dead-ends like homosexuality or "transgenderism".

Liberalism is the denial of human nature. All liberal policies contradict our nature.

speaking of water in the gas tank...you see, I have Louis Enricht’s formula for little green pills that turn water into gasoline.

I just need some seed money to put the apparatuses in place to make these pills.

If humans are gods, we’re pretty pathetic crappy little gods.

Can’t defy nature’s laws just by thinking it.

Can’t protect ourselves from natural disasters.

Can’t bring ourselves back from the dead.

Can’t bring anyone else back from the dead.

Can’t reverse time or skip forward in time.

Can’t create anything out of absolutely nothing.

Can’t keep ourselves from being injured by those that want to hurt or kill us.

Can’t exist without eating or drinking.

Can’t exist without aging.

Can’t exist without oxygen.

Can’t even stop ourselves from sunburn.

Can’t blink ourselves to any point on the planet we want.

All the things we’d attribute as god-like abilities, we cannot do. Yet there are people out there that we’re gods.
