I have sometimes wondered as an academic exercise where I would go if I HAD to leave America. I thought maybe Canada.
I think Australia is where I would go. They are a lot like us. Began as a bunch of rowdy criminals, became cowboys, settled a continent. I love the Aussies.
But at the end of the day, there is nowhere to go. America is the last bastion and you just go down with the ship.
For my entire lifetime since the 1950s, the die hard communists and the bed-wetting pinko liberals have been shooting holes in the bottom of this boat we all live on, while the conservatives go on polishing the railing.
Well, the bottom of the boat now is full of holes and the water is coming in faster than we could bail if we were bailing, but we aren’t. We are just watching the water come in while we are polishing the bright work. The band is playing on the deck of the titanic.
So to address your sarcastic quip implying he would leave America, when he said no such thing...
The reality is, every other boat of Western Civilization is sinking as fast or faster than they are. There is no in-tact life boat we can flee to. We would not be so inclined even if there were.
We are going to go down with the ship.
Fortunately for you and I and the OP, this is a relatively slow process that doesn’t cause us to leap out of the boat all at once, idetical to the slowly rising pot of boiling water that doesn’t cause the frog to jump out of the pot all at once.
