Fourth of July 2025
07/03/2015 | Steven Hoffman

I awoke with a start at the loud noise. I thought it might be early revilers when I realized it was just my tenants stomping their displeasure at the lack of hot water. I had hoped to be able to sleep later on my day off from my rotating shift at the Rite-Aid medical clinic. As my mind began to clear I realized today was the Fourth of July. In my youth it was known as Independence Day. Since it was removed from the list of federal holidays for its racist past not many people find reasons to celebrate.

Even if they had the desire few people celebrate this holiday any more. Since the EPA banned lead in bullets and deemed sulfur a controlled substance most manufacturing of gun powder and ammunition has ceased. The tradition of firecrackers punctuating the holiday is a thing of the past. Between the cost of meat and the outright ban on outdoor cooking, picnics and barbeques are frowned upon. Since newly installed president Clinton persuaded fast food outlets to close for daylight hours during the month of Ramadan you can’t even get a twenty five dollar burger until after sunset.

As I drank my ersatz coffee I asked myself how such a great nation could fall so far as to forget its roots. For many years the country seemed to be straying off the path our founding fathers laid out. But it seemed in the last two years of the Obama administration the nation went into overdrive away from its past. It might be 2015 was the last authentic fourth of July. It might also have been the last year there was any freedom left to celebrate, as little was left.

A search of Google today would reveal that the booming Obama recovery was stymied that September by the default of Greece from the Euro. When American banks began to teeter the administration decreed investors would pay this time and not taxpayers under the “Investor Responsibilities Act” or IRA. Anyone with more than $500 in savings was deemed an investor and would forfeit 40% to stabilize the banks and the economy. It was explained as only fair that those that profited unfairly in good times should pay in bad times.

This caused all the republicans running for president in 2016 to rally around opposition to the “investor responsibilities act” and call for likewise cuts to all government programs. The democrats responded and rallied around their strongest candidate, Hillary Clinton. The race was neck and neck until in October the entire social services network went down. No more welfare, food stamps, WIC, or cash assistance could be issued. Food riots broke out in every major city. There was chaos in the streets. The fault as backed up by the media was the proposed cuts in services to the poor by the republicans. This we were informed forced urban youth to go to extremes to feed their families.

The answer was provided by Hillary and backed by an Obama executive order that all places of business were required to issue credit to the poor in this time of crisis. Verification of need was left to the business to determine. By the time the smoke cleared and the shelves were empty America had a new first lady and president in Hillary Clinton. At the time there was a widespread rumors of massive voter fraud to which the Clinton administration countered by claiming their base was fired up. They felt this gave them a mandate to rule with an iron fist against agitators.

One of the first acts with this new mandate was in response to the food riots and the disproportionate number of minorities arrested and injured. Obviously this was the result of local police and prejudicial enforcement of the law. The only way to correct this we were told, is for the federal government to either replace or require a federal compliance offer in every precinct. The media accepted their part of the blame for the riots when they reported on republican plans to cut programs. They now agreed to have all reports pass thru the newly formed Department of Truth formed under the fairness doctrine.

Change under Clinton was now at a fast and furious pace. With the world in economic turmoil the doors to the country were opened like never before. To accommodate the cultures from around the globe the age of consent was lowered to eleven. Churches and Synagogue’s that refused to marry gays or children lost their tax exempt status. Those that compromised lost their congregations. Public schools were teaching gay techniques as part of sex education. Between the ISIS terrorists abroad and the environmental lobbyists at home, energy has become a luxury item. Another Google search would inform you that Obamacare didn’t fail from lack of paying customers. It evolved into single payer Hillary care.

Of course all this new federal government doesn’t come cheap. To keep the federal tax burden down most of the cost is shifted to the states. Like shit rolling downhill the state capitals send the bill to counties and then on to towns. It only stops when it reached the taxpayers. Between electronic voting, 110% turnouts and not much real news it allowed Hillary two terms and Chelsea to take her rightful place at the helm of the ship of state.

This is where I find myself on July 4th 2025. Working for a Hillary care Rite-Aid where you can get everything from hair care products to a heart transplant, if you are approved. Hospitals are now only for the old and infirmed, most don’t return. In fact most people in private refer to them as hospicetals. I have a family of HUD approved tenants since private rentals are illegal. I need their section 8 benefits to help pay my taxes which are more than my mortgage ever was. I give a passing thought to finding my old and tired flag in the attic for old times’ sake. Then I realize my tenants might turn me in for microaggression and I would be fined. Well so much for Independence Day 2025.

Author Note: I usually pay tribute to the past on July 4th, comparing our founding struggles to today. This year as you can see is a look to the future of what could be. Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.

I originally published this on what some call a blog “Examiner.com”. When I post here I post the entire article in the comments section because I want to share and not blog pimp. It makes it your choice to go to the link or not. After 4 years and 326 articles the editorial staff unpublished my article with the following explanation. “It appears as though your article contains information that was backed by an uncredible source and/or contains content that we feel readers may find offensive, objectionable or outright libelous. As a result, your article has not been published.” I guess I went to far with a thought provoking editorial.

Do you know what they call the Fourth of July in England?

The day between the third of July and the fifth of July.

Well done and very believable when you consider the typical low-info voter.

Happy Independence Day!

Only one correction I’d make in it, Obama would still be the dictator.

That’s as bad as what’s the date of Cinco-de-mayo next year?

I thought it might be early revilers

You had good cause to be alarmed. However, if you were awakened by REVELERS, you might had less grounds for worry.

I think that Obama will look for a job with less accountability and responsibility. Something like king of the world or messiah.

Oops …….It looked right when I typed it. Maybe it was the thought police for trying to publish sagacious columns 10 years past.

Depressing predictions, but you need to change this. Ramadan will be March 5 to April 3 in 2015, so that year the April Fools' Day prank will be a bomb from ISIS.

Who knew that Ramadan moves every year? 2015 would fit as June 18th to July 17th. But in the future 2025 it is March 1st to March 30th. That is according to one site. It seems every site has slightly different dates. Something to do with the lunar calendar. I guess it is whenever the mullahs decide it is. I will leave it as is for now.

A Muslim year is 12 lunar months, so backs up about 11 days every year. The month officially starts when the crescent moon can be first seen after a new moon, so its start date depends on the location of the official observer, his eyesight and the weather. I would hate to be a Seattle Imam trying to explain why Ramadan was in its fiftieth day because he still hasn't seen the moon to start the next month.

I think you are being microagressed for transspelling. It’s not for others to decide if transspelling or cisspelling is appropriate, it’s personal, it’s how you feel inside that matters. Now go to your safe place and show us what you can make with that fun factory.
