I didn’t say I was Catholic. I said I was Scots-Irish, and we for the most part are Protestant.
But I stand by my statement. I’m not in the mood to give up any more if my heritage right now. Talk to me when someone isn’t calling me a racist every hour of the day.

So why celebrate a CATHOLIC Saint? HE didn’t care a wit about Protestants! I rest my case.

You obviously don’t get what I’m saying.

The final result in your reasoning is every time more than 2 white people get together to celebrate where WE come from the media will call it a KKK, or Stormfront meeting.

The St Patrick’s day celebration is much more about our Irish heritage, than the saint.

You know we’ve gotten pretty materialistic about Christmas also. Let me guess, you don’t buy your kids Christmas presents either.

Lighten up, Francis

I bind unto myself today
The strong Name of the Trinity,
By invocation of the same,
The Three in One and One in Three.

I bind this day to me for ever.
By power of faith, Christ’s incarnation;
His baptism in the Jordan river;
His death on Cross for my salvation;
His bursting from the spicèd tomb;
His riding up the heavenly way;
His coming at the day of doom;*
I bind unto myself today.

I bind unto myself the power
Of the great love of the cherubim;
The sweet ‘well done’ in judgment hour,
The service of the seraphim,
Confessors’ faith, Apostles’ word,
The Patriarchs’ prayers, the Prophets’ scrolls,
All good deeds done unto the Lord,
And purity of virgin souls.

I bind unto myself today
The virtues of the starlit heaven,
The glorious sun’s life-giving ray,
The whiteness of the moon at even,
The flashing of the lightning free,
The whirling wind’s tempestuous shocks,
The stable earth, the deep salt sea,
Around the old eternal rocks.

I bind unto myself today
The power of God to hold and lead,
His eye to watch, His might to stay,
His ear to hearken to my need.
The wisdom of my God to teach,
His hand to guide, His shield to ward,
The word of God to give me speech,
His heavenly host to be my guard.

Against the demon snares of sin,
The vice that gives temptation force,
The natural lusts that war within,
The hostile men that mar my course;
Or few or many, far or nigh,
In every place and in all hours,
Against their fierce hostility,
I bind to me these holy powers.

Against all Satan’s spells and wiles,
Against false words of heresy,
Against the knowledge that defiles,
Against the heart’s idolatry,
Against the wizard’s evil craft,
Against the death wound and the burning,
The choking wave and the poisoned shaft,
Protect me, Christ, till Thy returning.

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

I bind unto myself the Name,
The strong Name of the Trinity;
By invocation of the same.
The Three in One, and One in Three,
Of Whom all nature hath creation,
Eternal Father, Spirit, Word:
Praise to the Lord of my salvation,
Salvation is of Christ the Lord.

St Patrick’s IS about St. Patrick. Sorry Protty! Bugger off! Do you celebrate St. Joseph’s day? Any clue at all when that might be? Of course not!

It is far more pervasive than just the dead souls at NBC. You cannot check your email without being bombarded by imgery of sexual degenerates sauntering across America. The news items pushed onto the webpage are 75% about the great day of degeneracy winning in America. Folks, we are possibly days if not hours away from a trumpet call ...

Uhhh,no, because I’m not CATHOLIC. I think I already said that.
I think I also said that I celebrate St Patrick’s day more for Irish heritage, than for the saint.
You’ve come full circle, and are making my argument for me.

If you don’t want to hoist a pint to the blarney stone on March 17th, then don’t but I’ll continue to enjoy the fellowship with my Irish mates on that day.

Again, I’m not giving up anymore of my heritage to anyone.

St. Patrick is not even Irish! What do you know about Irish heritage? Lets celebrate being put down by your other side the English! Irish Mates? Freaking pathetic, poser! You were born in the USA. Irish heritage, give me a break. Continue on your delusion. How are you any different then Blacks who call themselves African-Americans? Here is a clue, you’re NOT!

Screw u!

I have been nothing but respectful of you. We disagree, but have I resorted to calling you names?

What do I know about Irish heritage, Well I have traced my fathers side of the family back 13 generations to a small fishing village in Ireland.
Not once have I ever called my self some hyphenated name. I’m an American of Scots-Irish descent.
What delusion is this you think I have. Because I and several million other Americans get together on March 17th wear green, have a pint or two, I’m delusional?
If you have a problem with St Patrick’s day, petition the Catholic Church to change it.

I’m a “pathetic poser” because I have a stand, and refuse to cowtow to your bullying about it. If I’m wrong, I’m one of the first on this forum to apologize, but if I believe I’m right, I’ll argue with you until judgement day. Call people names, really?

You accuse me of being like African Americans with no proof, but how are you any different than a typical liberal, losing an argument start calling people names and yelling at them, yeah that’s a good debate tool.

Let me say this again for posterity.
I WILL continue to celebrate St Patrick’s day, March 17th by having fun, and wearing green, and knocking back a few beers with like minded people.

I don’t recall having invited you, but if you choose not to that’s your choice. Does your choice have to include peeing in everybody else Cheerios?

If you don’t agree with my choice, well you know what they say about pounding sand.

You can bet they will have Churches shown as intolerant bigots to those saintly homosexual couples.

I'm wondering how saintly the inherently dangerous anal sex could ever be.

Fine, don’t show it on NBC. Thousands of Irish conservatives will thank NBC for not associating its liberal self with the St. Patricks day parade.

Celebrating a CATHOLIC holiday when you are not Catholic, because a bunch of morons, including some "Catholics" think it's a day to get drunk and be stupid rather than go to Mass is illogical!

St. Joseph! Far more important, but his day does not involve drunken stupidity and parades. Pity!

I get it! You don’t like St Patrick’s day celebrations (for the fourth time), don’t celebrate. Do what you want, flog yourself, walk on hot coals, whatever.
Do you have any fun on any day? Unless you run around today wearing the Union Jack, and singing “God Save the Queen”, I don’t care what you celebrate, or if you celebrate.
Why are you so bent out of shape about a minor holiday, that causes happiness among most of the population of this country.
Hell St Valentines day is a completely made up holiday so men spend money after Christmas. I’m sure St Valentine was a real saint, and personally I don’t celebrate it. Do I care if the rest of the country does? Gosh seems like I have more important things to be miffed about, for instance the take over of our country by tyrants, and that we’re probably gonna see a hot civil war,if not in my lifetime, certainly within my grandson’s life.
Excuse us if on one of maybe 5 days a year, we are able to forget for a few hours the absolute cesspool our world is becoming, and toss back a few with our friends.

Oh yeah I have worn every color on St Patrick’s Day, but I dare say orange and green would make me look like a carrot, so I’ll pass.
But I have a suggestion for you. Since you have such a problem with this day, and the millions of us that enjoy ourselves, go to NYC get you a big sign to carry that says “St Patrick’s Day Sucks”, and walk around Manhattan on March 17th. Let me know how that works out, if your fingers still work.
