A year and a half ago, I wrote about the illegal "No Weapons" signs at rest stops in Alabama. The Alabama Department of Transportation doubled down and declared the signs legal ... because. Yesterday afternoon, Friday, the 24th of July, 2015, Governor Bentley stepped up to the plate and ordered the signs taken down. From yellowhammernews.com reporting the Governor's tweet:
I have ordered the AL Department of Transportation to remove signs banning weapons at all Alabama rest stops to comply with state law.
... as in you’ve been fooled.
Trust me, I live in Alabama, and I know the party of the governor.

One more thing: is Bentley a demoncrat? IDK. But any article that states such a switch that is printed on April Fool’s Day makes me highly sceptical.

I work at Auburn University. EVERY building on and off campus, both in Auburn and the campus in Montgomery has signs that say NO GUNS ALLOWED!
Freerepublic exists in large part because of the “fair use doctrine”.
I do not consider freerepublic to be using stolen material, and I do not consider Jim Robinson to be self-promoting simply by his creation of this fabulous site.
Freerepublic is a wonderful educational resource, and I hope for it to continue far, far into the future.
