Just checked my windows update and noticed WIN 10 attempted to download and failed three times.
It is not July 29th...yet.
Anybody else notice this on their system?
I am running WIN 8.1 and everything is compatible for the upgrade.
I installed it overnight.
Been shaking it down a bit this morning.
So far I really, really like it.
One of the first things I’ve noticed is that everything is much faster. Not sure why, but it is.
The free upgrade DOES apply to Win 7.
Do you really need a password for this? Heck, the only password is the one I use when I turn my computer on!!! I don’t use any MSFT passwords....
Mine is downloaded and waiting in the $Windows folder.
I was corrected on that already. Thanks.
I didn’t have to use a password. It’s installed and purring like a kitten.
I am still showing download failures...9 so far. I read at MSFT forums where people are experiencing at least 30 failures and it was stated system overload as a reason. I have no clue for sure but I do know according to MSFT my system is ready for it whenever it decides to do its thing.
Well, I started the installation last night right after it came out. So maybe I dodged the bullet.
Thanks to EveningStar for the ping!!
Took about 2.5 hours, but it’s in and it works.
Installed on one system with no problem. 4 more to go, but I’m waiting until it says it’s ready.
Seems like a lot of people managed to slide through ok so far, but I’m waiting until this evening to do two laptops, so I have my fingers crossed! I’ve never tried an OS upgrade without a physical CD.
not to worry,, When a dark giant spinning CD hovers over your house in the middle of the night,, a little green fella will rappel down from the CD and flip your machine on..
You wont even know they were there.. Good luck!! Im staying on WIN7 for awhile.
Mine finally upgraded and installed and took a little over an hour.
When I got into the new browser, one drive popped up asking for a password. I have no clue what this is as I have never used it.
Only thing I cannot find is an updates section in the control panel.

I looked where you said and don’t see an update section. Strange!
Interesting. I don’t use any of those items...skype, hotmail or outlook.
