Mr. Trump: You’re Needed Now More Than Ever
self | J Johnson

Posted on 08/08/2015 1:59:46 PM PDT by jimjohn

As I was on the highway Friday, I danced across the AM radio dial and internet streams to hear many of the Republican faithful begin to throw dirt in what they believe is a dead Trump for President campaign. Saw the responses, the polls etc (Trump still leading). Then I wake up Saturday morning to see I prediction I made earlier this week come true. So now, I write this stern warning to all my conservative brethren:

DON’T DUMP TRUMP YET.

Before stating my case, here’s the prediction I made in an early Free Republic post 4 days before the Thursday’s debate: “…My prediction: No matter what the Donald does Thursday, they’ll try to spin something into a negative - and probably won’t report on any other candidate if they can get away with it…”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3319764/posts

This was a pretty easy prediction. I know the media. I worked with many of these SOBs for too long. Their template was already there, they were just waiting to fill in the blanks. And right now, too many republicans are taking the bait – once again.

Full disclosure for those thinking I am a Trump-aholic: In my opinion, Trump’s debate performance Thursday was not good. The Donald was given a few slow pitches over home plate that should have been knocked out of the park – and he whiffed on them (example coming shortly). Donald Trump was/is not my first choice for the GOP nomination. But if you are a true Constitutional Real American like myself, you want/need him to stay in the race as long as possible.

And BTW, as much as I give him thumbs down on his overall performance, I still think he won the debate hands down – on the first pitch. More on that later. I generally gauge public reaction with a close friend of mine. When I called him he wasted no time saying, “…I think Trump damaged himself in the second half of the debate…”. The first response when I heard that was “hmmm… at least you stayed up and watched the whole thing.” Then I asked about Ted Cruz. “Sounded okay, but didn’t hear too much from him…”

Note: Not pumping Ted Cruz either. In fact, I was very careful to note who the media is/was NOT talking about too much after the debate was over, but that’s part of another story. Back to the Donald.

He is leading the GOP because he is leading from the front, not the rear. Say what you want about the other guys, but at least he’s fighting back – forcing the others to follow his lead. In the case of taking back America, right now, he’s the tip of the spear. Remember, he’s battling entrenched power on both sides. He’s going to take hits; and as you’ve seen, much of it based on faux outrage over a made-up scenario. You, the Real American gets angry – maybe at Trump, then discouraged, then give up again… … leading to endless debates that turn into Seinfeld shows (all about nothing), and candidates get picked off one at a time until the only one left is the one with all the money from the entrenched powers. And we fall for it every time. Trump staying in the race will actually force other candidates to deal with the issues that America is talking about. I can assure you that with no Trump on stage, someone would have gotten a Cecil the Loin question, and everyone on stage would have been asked when they stopped being a racist (even Carson).

If you go by today’s media standards, Trump was awful and lost the debate, but if you look at it as a chess match, Trump won this first debate on the second move by NOT committing to support the GOP nominee (read 3rd party). Translation: He’s not going away, and in case anyone hasn’t noticed: he’s driving the political debate to the point that the other side has to respond to him. And it literally made any attempts by the state-sponsored media to ‘take him out’ in that debate pointless (C’mon, what did you think that whole show as about anyway?). I may I also say: Not going in lock step with the other nine on stage took guts – period. It told me that with all due respect to the other nine, with a little bit of political pressure, they may fold like a cheap suit when the time comes. Still, Trump is not good at debates and needs work. For example, that slow pitch I mentioned earlier – when one Chris Wallace demanded proof the Mexican government was sending illegals into America. The proof was Marco Rubio’s earlier statement about home country of many of the illegals – For those who need a geography lesson, folks from the countries mentioned by Rubio had to travel THROUGH Mexico to reach the Rio Grande. Mexican could have stopped them at their southern border or at any time while in Mexico. And if they are known criminals in Mexico, why are the Mexicans demanding they be extradited back for justice?

If Donald Trump is sincere, then Real America may have a vehicle to get a message out that would otherwise not be heard. As of now, Trump has been isolated, and if I were him, I’d reaching out for help from Real American policy experts (and not policy wonks from inside the beltway) on how to implement issues he (and America) are talking about.

Which is why – love him or hate him – we still need in in the race.

My biggest fear about Trump is that he’ll go mushy in the general or once he thinks he has a clear road to the general and I fear too many conservatives are too quickly taking the word of a showman out of desperation for any respite after years of Obama.

I certainly hope Trump can and will walk his talk.

We are in complete agreement. I don’t want to see him as our next president but we desperately need him, if only to keep on the front burner the issues that need to be called out in front of God and everybody, protecting the “real” candidates from the flack they would get from doing the same.

And the one that is setting himself up to benefit from it the most is Cruz. I am extremely happy about that.

Is Fox News doing to Trump what they accused the left-wing media did to Hillary in 2008?

He’s making noise that needs to be heard.
If he gets crossways with some media slut.. too damned bad.

I’m partial to Cruz.. but Trump is slapping the folks what need slapped.

And I applaud that slapping.

My biggest fear is that hackers and voter fraud will determine the next election.

And ten million people who would not have watched the debate did because of Donald Trump.
That's ten million extra people who would not have seen and heard Cruz, Carson, etc. unfiltered except for Donald Trump being in the campaign.

Throw him overboard in November if you must LOL!
Meanwhile take advantage!

Trump is not going anywhere. He’s got everyone of these clowns on the run.

I actually agree with you. He is a buffer at the moment.

Just wait until we are stuck picking down through the rest trying to pick which establishment RINO is the next best of the least because we have no other choices. Would any of them matter?

This is the last chance to fight this immigration disaster, maybe the last time voting could make any difference. Once Trump is gone, Cruz could rise and they will stomp on him just like they have done to Trump. It is early yet.

Once Cruz in gone, well ....

Trump isn’t a politician. Don’t expect him to act like one.

Trump is the strategy.
Cruz is the candidate.

Trump did fine. He had everything to lose and he’s still the story. The more people who totally ignore politics see him talk, the more popular he will get.

Thanks for the excellently written opinions and observations.

What do you think with all that has happened to him in the past 2 days that if the barrage keeps going he'll go 3rd party and if so, isn't that just a free ticket to Hillary?

I don’t trust him either. Nor, do I really want him in the oval office. His ego is so large that I don’t believe he knows what he doesn’t know. When madmen have nuclear weapons and threaten the world with extinction, I want a president who is calm and rational, not someone who flies off the handle because he feels personally affronted.

Exactly
De ja vu
They picked off our candidates one by one last time til Romney and or McCain was the last man standing.
Cruz is next. Then Carson etc
I saw too what was happening. I agree wholeheartedly

Don’t know if Trump would be good or bad as President, but in my opinion would be a thousand times better the what we presently have.
