Thanks for your reply.

So your objections are due to personal belief...not an organized religion. That was actually my question.

Sure, personal religious freedom issues.

I “get” personal beliefs.

I don’t” get” saying that has any thing to do with religion .

Hmm...lets evaluate your logic. You are saying...

"having the religious freedom to choose which or any vaccinations to have administered to your children" is in the same category as "having the religious freedom to detonate a bomb killing innocent people" or "having religious freedom to cut heads off of Christians" or "marrying multiple wives".

Are you taking medication?

Nope - just pointing out that when one uses the religious freedom argument, they should realize that their religion isn't the only one out there and the way things seem to be going, even the bad guys can claim such - two sides to every sword whether we want to admit it or not. I realize the seeming dichotomy of my example, but sometimes it takes an "extreme stretch" to point that out. Kind of like many who claim to support the Constitution, but, for their own purposes/sensibilities, would have laws that contradict the Constitution put in place. In those cases, I point out that the Constitution doesn't contain a "Noble Cause" clause.

If we want to have freedom to not have some vaccinations forced upon us and/or our kids, I think that the "Religious Freedom" meme is the wrong path to take whether some aspect of the situation are applicable or not.

Ok, I see your point. Virtually all families that have concerns with vaccinations have "fled" to the "freedom of religion" defense out of necessity. If we try reasoning with Doctors or the HHS by using studied opinions, freedom of conscious, and concerns for our children's health, it holds no weight with government institutions or the courts. So in essence, it is our last refuge.

Most of our "Bill of Rights" has been eroded to the point of irrelevancy. The government has done so "for our good". Saint Bernard of Clairvaux famously stated, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". CS Lewis perhaps put it best by saying...

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C.S. Lewis
