I appreciate your comments but I take his words differently than you do. I do not see him especially comparing himself to Billy Graham. I do appreciate him saying that his favorite book is the Bible, true or not. Who are we to say it isn’t? He does not seem to be a great student of the Bible. But that does not mean that from his own perspective, he does not value it. He is not at all hostile to Christianity, unlike the left. I am not going to fault him for merely not adequately understanding the gospel. I wish he did. But maybe he will in the future. It is just that what I need from a candidate is that he values the judeo-christian ethic. I get my theology elsewhere.
I concur with everything you wrote. I don’t get the phenomena at all. If I wrote what I really thought of Trump, I would be called every name in the book (already been called a “moron and “idiot” today-LOL) and maybe even be reported to the admin mod for abuse. So I try to keep it civil (which is more than can be said for most Trumpbots).
What’s more puzzling than the reaction of many FR posters is that I know some family members and friends, usually level headed and discerning, who are drawn to Trump as well. I guess if you’re starving for red meat, you’ll take just about anything that’s thrown at you.
This blind adulation and refusal to accept facts and truth is startling.
