A year and a half ago I could build one for *00 and sell it for nearly twice that. Now, the parts cost as much as a fully assembled Sig! WalMart sold off all their stock in semi auto black rifles, including a nice new M&P 15/22 for $229!
You too?
I hear that is happening all over the place.
I built an AR-15, having zero knowledge or experience, using exploded diagrams I found on the interweb.
I didnt even possess the correct tools.
Its true, the military saying that a 9th grader could do it.
You are right, “assemble” is the more accurate word for most of the activity, but there are people out there using CNC machines to “make” their own ARs.
Any idea how much time you invested in it? I’d like to try it sometime.
It would seem that FReepers have a boating problem.
I remember drooling over those Klein’s ads and surplus catalogs when I was a kid. And look at the third one down, left column. Oh well, it happened, and if not with that rifle it would have been another. Nuts are odd that way...
Building my AR took maybe 12-15 hours, I dunno. It was several years ago.
I must confess I bought the upper partially assembled.
We really should be safety out on the water.
