Trump is a smart executive. He identified the ONE major factor that, if left unhandled, would destroy the viability of the US, and decided to focus on that ONE issue and not get distracted.
IMMIGRATION of the world’s poor into the US will destroy us. THAT needs to be fixed first.

One thing we have learned about politicians, particularly the GOPe is that ANYONE who believes ANYTHING can call themselves “Conservative” and they often do.
To: Steelfish
What are Jonah's credentials again? Oh yeah, nepotism. His mom published Linda Tripp. Somehow he winds up at National Review with fellow girlie man Rich Lowry. Got it. Anyway, I read this rancid steaming pile of crap, and took notes ;-)
IMPORTANT FACT: nowhere in this embarrassing screed do any of the following terms show up: TEA Party, Amnesty, Illegal Aliens, Immigration, Mexico.
- "Well, if this is the conservative movement now, I guess you're going to have to count me out." ... So Jonah will abandon the "Conservative Movement" at a drop of a hat? Take his toys and go home? Hmmmm. Remember this irony for a moment.
- "... the conservative movement has always recognized that victory lies not simply in electing conservative politicians, but in shaping a conservative electorate that lines up the incentives so that politicians define their self-interest in a conservative way." ... This shows he sees what he wants to see, and then re-interprets it to fit his little ivory tower. What has actually happened is that the "conservative movement" has done fine all by ourselves organizing into TEA Parties and other groups, and showing up and voting, delivering majorities to the (R)epublicrat party who promptly declared war on us. Stop spewing meaningless historical revisionism.
- "But if its true that politicians can disappoint, I think one has to say that the people can, too. And when I say the people I don't mean those people. I mean my people. I" ... Jonah is disappointed in us, even calling us Low Information Voters, a term Rush uses for the (D)ummycrat welfare class.
- "Well, many of the same people we laughed at are now laughing at us because we are going ga-ga over our own celebrity." ... The only people laughing, or pretending to laugh are (D)ummycrats who are scared sh!tless that someone is going to pinch a chunk of their slave votes. Jonah is telling us that he is embarrassed at what others think of us, and by extension him. We're embarrassing him. This is something Rush always warns of, worrying about what others think of you. Fail.
- "Trump is like a cat trained to piss in a human toilet." ... Oh my. That is gonna haunt him for a long time. Waitaminnit, isn't Jonah simultaneously criticizing Trump for being coarse. Why yes he is. In fact it's coming up shortly.
- "Ted Cruzs vow not to criticize other Republicans ... But he has shown not an iota of reluctance to criticize fellow Republicans when its in his interest." ... Double shot at Ted Cruz, this is the first part and it really shows which side Jonah is on. He is criticizing Cruz for going after the (R)INO scum like McConnell who I guess is above reproach to this (R)epublicrat shill Jonah Goldberg.
- "Cruz isnt criticizing Donald Trump ..." ... And that's the second part. How dare Cruz not criticize the man closest to winning the (R) nomination according to the polls. Transparent fool. The entire (R)inocrat establishment is relentlessly going after Trump, but the dwarf Jonah is mad that Cruz hasn't joined the circle jerk.
- "Similarly, Im constantly hearing from Trump fans that its disrespectful for me to criticize the Republican front-runner as if these fans would refrain from criticizing Jeb or Rubio or Kasich if they were in the lead." ... And again he shows his (R)epublicrat-(R)ino underwear ( he has pictures of McConnell and Boner on his pajamas I'm guessing ). Damn straight we wouldn't refrain from attacking "Jeb or Rubio or Kasich" you fool, not only are they NOT electable, but you are too stupid to realize they are the enemy.
- "If I sound dismayed, its only because I am. Conservatives have spent more than 60 years arguing that ideas and character matter. That is the conservative movement I joined and dedicated my professional life to. And now, in a moment of passion, many of my comrades-in-arms are throwing it all away in a fit of pique." ... That's a real insult there, accusing us of abandoning any principles. No-one is abandoning anything. We are reaching into the toolbox and pulling out a hammer to smash the enemy. If Trump makes it in, he *will* be held accountable bu us, unlike Barry Hussein who was NOT held accountable by Jonah's (R)epublicrat buddies.
- "How many Republicans have been deemed unfit for the Oval Office because of comparatively minor character flaws or ideological shortcomings? Rick Perry in 2012 saw his candidacy implode when he couldnt remember the third item on his checklist of agencies hed close down." ... This one burns me up, and exposes this little flea on our backs. He picks Perry as his example, but he does not think to mention George Allen. I can't remember but I would guess this little schmuck was part of the Macacca chorus saying: "He's Toast, give it up George" and the reason I think so is because George Allen was very likely to shake up the establishment cronyism that these (R)epublicrat shills wallow in. Jonah's whining about how unfair it is that Trump wasn't kneecapped shows that he doesn't understand the people are tired of political correctness, something he will fall down and surrender to in a heartbeat.
- "Yes, I know Trump has declared himself pro-life. Good for him and congratulations to the pro-life movement for making that the price of admission." ... Woooo boy, do I detect some disrespect for evangelicals? I think so. These ivory tower types have always looked at religious conservatives as Low Information Voters, throw 'em a bone to shut 'em up. I think his slip is showing.
- "Now Ann [Coulter] leads a chorus of people claiming that Trump is our only savior. Has Trump changed, or have Ann and her followers? Is there a serious argument behind the new thinking, or is it because he fights!?" ... Hey Jonah you dumbarse, that word that is missing from this entire whining article is ILLEGAL F'N ALIENS. Another is AMNESTY. This idjit has literally struck that term from his vocabulary and therefore cannot understand what Coulter is talking about.
- "[on Trump allegedly being all over the map on beliefs] It shows that he has absolutely no ideological guardrails whatsoever." ... It shows no such thing. He has had no political office, and no record, just talk. On the other hand we have Boner and McConnell and McCarthy, and Cantor and Ryan and Cornyn and Corker and Rubio and McCain ( how many more do you need? ). All had records, got your support and vote, and then what happened? It's always a gamble you nimrod. But now we know the (R)epublicrat choices are a sure loser and we're throwing the dice on a proposition bet. You care to wager a side bet as to who will work for America rather than the corporate cronyism riddled (R)epublicrats? Does that scare you?
- "In his embarrassing interview with Hugh Hewitt Thursday night, Trump revealed he knows less than most halfway-decent D.C. interns about foreign policy." ... As if you would know about every towel headed goat banging RoP terrorist. Clueless doesn't begin to describe these elitist schmucks. Trump will need to know just one thing - where they are. Period. He'll have no choice but to clean up the mess made by your cronies and the (D)ummycrats.
- "... consider the fact that for the last five years no issue has united the Right more than opposition to Obamacare. Opposition to socialized medicine in general has been a core tenet of American conservatism from Day One. Yet, when Republicans were told that Donald Trump favors single-payer health care, support for single-payer health care jumped from 16 percent to 44 percent." ... Here we go. Obamacare is *his* most important issue *today*. Where the f*ck was he in 2009 and 2010? How many TEA rallies did he show up at? Who did he back in Nevada? In South Carolina? MOST IMPORTANTLY is the missing term again: "Illegal Aliens" and "Amnesty", which is the most important issue *today*. It is the *only* issue today. Even if you revoke Obamacare it will return in 4 or 8 years when ILLEGAL ALIENS and AMNESTY have made it electorally bulletproof. Idjit.
- "What we are seeing is the corrupting of conservatives." ... Speak for yourself arsehole. You have been corrupted since you allowed the uniparty (R)epublicrats to declare war on us shortly after Obama arrived. Were you there to help block him for his lack of NBC? For the TEA party movement? For anything at all? Go back to sleep, we can handle it from here.
- "In 2012, Mark Steyn wrote that a President Gingrich would have twice as many ex-wives as the first 44 presidents combined. If that (quite brilliant) line resonated with you three years ago, why doesnt it for a President Trump?" ... Seriously? Divorce? This is another glimpse at his inner religious bigotry and feelings for evangelicals, he believes we are Low Information Voters easily led around by the nose, just toss out the word "divorce" and get a Pavlovian response. They even tried this with Reagan, I swear I remember that. Fools.
- "Im no fan of Arianna Huffington or Gail Collins, but calling them dogs because they criticized you is not a serious ideological or intellectual retort. (Its not even clever.)" ... They got off easy you pantie wearing girl. If it were up to this weenie, horrific beasts like Rosie O'Donnell and Arianna Huffington could mouth off and then run and hide behind their vaginas ( if they have one ). Hiding behind their color, and religion and now homo-perversion are all similar tricks. Jonah naturally is easily defeated by such tactics while Trump is not. Hence the whining. Such a little girl.
- "I think Trump did insinuate that Megyn Kelly was menstruating during the debate. He denies it. Fine." ... Megyn Motormouth has equaled Dan Rather is you bother to look at the facts. Smears through lack of context. But that's okay as long as the target is Trump according to Jonah.
- "If your neighbor talked this way, maybe hed still be your friend, because we all have friends who are characters. But would you want him to be your kids English teacher? Guidance counselor? Would you tell your kids you want them to follow his example? Would you go into business with him? Would you entrust him with nuclear weapons?" ... Another Reagan criticism. Got Ronaldus Maximus on your mind, eh? Yeah Jonah, there is a "nuke them now" button sitting there waiting to be pressed by a madman. what an idjit.
- "Karl Marx coined the term lumpenproletariat to describe working-class people [blah blah blah]" ... Again with the unwashed masses aka Low Information Voters. Is it surprising that this clown looks to Marx and Engels to explain what he finds inexplicable? The answers swirl all around him and he cannot see a thing. Tens of millions of Invaders have overwhelmed us at the behest of his corporate cronies at the Chamber Of Commerce and they are invisible to him and this article. The people are fed up with lying bastard politicians and his instinct is to pull down the Communist Manifesto, no doubt because he always thought of us as proles anyway. The stupid is strong with this one.
- "But I am tempted to believe that Donald Trumps biggest fans are not to be relied upon in the conservative cause. I have hope they will come to their senses. But its possible they wont. And if the conservative movement and the Republican party allow themselves to be corrupted by this flim-flammery, then so be it. My job will be harder, my career will suffer, and Ill be ideologically homeless (though hardly alone). Thats not so scary. Conservatism began in the wilderness and maybe, like the Hebrews, it would return from it stronger and ready to rule. But Im not leaving without a fight. If my side loses that fight, all I ask is you stop calling the Trumpian cargo cult conservative and maybe stop the movement long enough for me to get off." ... This dummy just said that the Conservative Movement is dumb, hijacked and corrupt ~sigh~ Well this strawman is dumb, here's why. What Jonah cannot fathom is that Trump's support is NOT just (R)epublicans and certainly NOT just Conservatives. His support is across the board, something that is vital to have any shot at the gold ring.
Jonah and his elitist collaborators can not function in a universe where (R) and (D) voters unite to elect someone outside their bubble, even though that is exactly what Reagan did in 1984. The (R)epublicratic-(R)inocrat establishment must be destroyed. They are too stupid to exist and frankly they are embarrassing us - the Constitutionalists. But most importantly they are feverishly working for another loss for America, run a (R)ino and *they* win no matter what, even if the (D)ummycrat wins. But this is to be expected from anyone willing to vote for Rubio or Jeb or Kasich or Fiorino or Graham. God willing these traitors will go down in flames.

Gosh, we know what’s important. It’s not that we get somebody in the White House who will do something about America’s tailspin. It’s whether we can call ourselves part of the conservative movement or not. Get your priorities straight, Americans.

Nathan, thanks for acknowledging your intemperate comments. I think we on free republic should at least focus on what we all agree on - that the gop has betrayed us and failed to follow through on numerous campaign promises (in effect, becoming a unitary with the Dems). The only thing that differs is our response. I, like you, am a big Cruz fan. He lines up well on almost all of my issues. However, I’ve been through this rodeo too many times. I’m not going to sit back and wait for the perfect candidate to gain the support that never comes, allowing this mess to continue and my country to disappear. Cromnibus and the funding of amnesty was the last betrayal. In my opinion, and many others, it’s time to throw a grenade in the room and for at least the one key issue of our generation, immigration, obtain a satisfactory result. Labels and parties be damned.

The GOP is not a conservative party at all. They just call themselves that to try and fool the base.
If we wanted open borders, deals with Iran, Obamacare, no jobs or wage growth, we would have voted for democrats.
GOP sounds real “tuff” on national security, but they are wussies. Open border policy is not “tuff” on national security.
The key for all of us is to stay strong and smoosh the GOPe to smithereens. For conservatives to rise, we have to get them out of the way. Their sniveling about Trump is quite telling and proof of who they are.
I continue to enjoy their squirming and squealing like the lying cowardly piglets they are.

Right now Cruz best represents my values as a Conservative.
But this hit piece is about Trump. Who better advances my Conservative values? Trup, or Fox and NR? If Trump demolishes the uniparty and exposes the media as the lying propganditutes that they are, then this does more to advance Conservatism than all of the GOP victories we keep gifting them, which they use to stab us in the back.
If the enemy of my enemy will carry out just one single thing in securing the borders, then that far outshadows any of the campaign cash he may have given to dems. (he also gave to reps - just like most billionaires - they hedge their bets)

(Cruz or Lose 2016)
To: Steelfish
There are some of us here who are not Trumpbots and recognize that he is pro-choice, accepts gay marriage, favored single-payer; and yes we are Ted Cruz supporters. You have to realize that most on FR would enjoy a Cruz presidency. But if that isn't going to happen (and it is early, so there's plenty of time for surprises), the reason it won't is because the GOPe are all in for Jeb and are stacking the deck, adding 14 more candidates to split the conservative base and allow Jeb to slink in with a fraction of the vote.
BUT (<- big but), Trump destroys the GOPe plan. He's overshadowed Jeb and now has a commanding lead in the polls. With that lead, out comes every GOPe hitman, who must destroy Trump if their favorite liberal RINO Jeb is to have a chance.
It is that reason so many on FR are behind Trump - anything that destroys the GOPe candidate (enemy of my enemy) will be supported. In Trump, you will not get the most conservative candidate, but you will get a more liberal candidate in Jeb.
To: nathanbedford
I agree with you. Cruz, Lee and some in Congress are very honorable men. Most of the GOP are there to enrich themselves and be a part of the DC elite. I get frustrated with the fact that we conservatives helped elect majorities in both houses and can get nothing done.
To: Sirius Lee
The best scenario I can see is Trump relying on Cruz and other for advice on following the Constitution. And likewise putting the best people in charge of other areas of the executive branch. Plus ,as a businessman, eliminating un-needed departments and regulations that bog down the economy and stifle business and jobs.
And I think this idea terrifies both the Democrats and the Rinos.

To date there are either rabid Trump supporters or rabid Trump detractors.
The next POTUS will inherit a National Debt of 20 Trillion dollars. Jonah’s article is well written and does bring up good character issues but it is shallow.
Trump has built up a real estate empire. Has he been effective? What kind of manager and leader has he been? Will his management abilities transfer well when CEO of the executive branch? Does he have bloated a management staff? Does he keep costs under control? What are his HR policies? What type of health care does he provide his employees? When he supported single payer health care, did he do so to minimize costs to his companies?
These are just a few of questions I'd like answered. Jonah's article doesn't even begin to answer any of those questions. I don't give a damn about his style, although I find it very entertaining.

Any conservative using the word “nationalist” is NOT a conservative. The word is “patriotism,” a word The Donald, despite his obviously oh-so-low IQ according to Jonah, understands.
And where are the anti-Semites, Jonah? Is The Donald now an anti-Semite??
