I’ll get on twitter for breaking news type things. Most of it of course doesn’t impact me directly. But for those nearby it could be helpful (like the California wildfire where people were saying where it was, what neighborhoods were being evacuated, etc.)

And watched some of the political protests - like in Ukraine awhile ago. Would be more important for Ukrainians obviously. But it can get the unfiltered news out very fast. But also along with the hoaxers - so need to not get too excited over posts that don’t seem to fit.

I’m not “on” twitter - but will bring it up on the laptop for some of the major news stories.

Social Media is a natural outgrowth of the Internet. It will never go away.

Lots of kids aren’t cool. I always say that there’s maybe 10% of the population that is cool/ thinks they’re cool/ wants to be cool. From a market perspective not cool is much more lucrative.

It’s useful to me as the companies I handle social media for pay well. I like cashing my pay checks.

But as far as bang for our buck goes, different platforms work better in different cities.

One company in an unnamed city, I can get 800 views for a Facebook post on a Sunday night. But their Twitter and Instagram engagement is pretty flat compared.

Different branch of same company in different city I get 50 Facebook views but hundreds on InstGram.

As far as personally. I like Twitter for breaking news event and to direct compliments/complaints straight to media.

Media types for the most part hang on Twitter’s every word.

I did find however, that far from being an uncensored place to post, Twitter is very quick to silence the conservative voice during breaking news events while drag queens like Deray are given carte blanche by Twitter’s overlords to spew all manner of hate and racism.

Absolutely. Facebook is a very powerful advertising platform for a lot of reasons.

Depends on the section of the media. For a lot of the media twitter feeds the beast. Sports radio LOVES it, athletes are remarkably good at saying stupid things on twitter and providing stuff to talk about for a day. And of course tweets include shares, which spreads your story, gets you hits and makes your advertisers happy. They don’t like the peanut gallery getting to rebut, but even rebuttal usually includes a share.

Now if only Facebook would go away too.

...

Nothing would make me happier than to see the thief and illegal alien advocate, Zuckerberg go down in flames.

I'd like to see Left Wing Super Money contributors like Google and Apple go into the toilet too.

Unfortunately, this has to play out a little further before those two will be brought to heel.

He isn’t a thief. His idea for Facebook was completely different from what he was hired to do.

90% or 95% or 99% of everything is garbage.

You pick and choose what's important to you and ignore the rest.

No medium is going to last for ever, but if users like twitter and ignore the chaff and concentrate on what actually has meaning for them, there's no inherent reason why all the garbage means the medium is dead or dying soon.

Most likely there may be a Twitter 2.0 that provides the same service and fixes the defective features. Whether the Twitter people will be smart enough and competent enough to do that themselves or whether somebody else will is going to be something people will tweet about.

Got to remember that Donald Trump used Twitter to cover the Dems debating last week.

Yeah all those people who use Facebook to keep in touch with relatives overseas and across country should just stop. They are wasting their time. /sarc
