Trump’s VP Choice and Eligibility

The anti-eligibility case against Cruz is a non-starter

Patriots of America endorse Donald Trump for President. He transcends all other candidates. But if he wins the GOP nomination, an important question will be his running mate. What if Trump picks Ted Cruz for second spot on the ticket? Conservatives need to get united on this because it’s a distinct possibility. Nominees often choose one of their strongest challengers especially if they come from a state with lots of electoral votes. Cruz is from Texas (38 electoral votes). Trump is from New York (29 electoral votes). Only California has more votes (55) than Texas and New York.

Unfortunately numerous political activists out there are pushing the idea that Cruz is ineligible to be President (which would make him ineligible also to be Vice-President) because he was born in Canada and has only one parent (his mother) who is a natural born citizen. Yes, Cruz was born in Calgary, which is where his parents worked for several years in the oil fields in the early 1970s. But does this make him constitutionally ineligible? Let’s find out.

Not going to happen. Nobody likes Cruz. Trump tries to be polite towards him because he hasn’t launched any big attacks, but Trump really doesn’t like him either. Cruz has an ability to piss off just about everybody.

Glad you retired. You don’t have very good observational skills.

Texas Gov Greg Abbott would be an outstanding VP choice.

<><> He beat abortion Barbie handily.

<><> Abbott took on the lesbian sheriff WRT sanctuary cities.

<><> Abbott is a leader who gets things done; he lead 26 AG's in
the successful legal fight to get Obama's heinous amnesty EO's on hold.

Texas Gov Greg Abbott would be an outstanding VP choice.

“Cruz has an ability to piss off just about everybody.”

Same is said about Trump, and look how much support he is getting!

The ability to piss people off and shake up the establishment is exactly what we as a country need to repair this mess.

Trump/Cruz offer the right combination to do exactly that!

Trump being from New York is irrelevant. Hillary will easily carry New York.

Hopefully we don’t need a VP from Texas to carry it. If so we are screwed

When I said this would happen a year ago I damn near rode lightning over it. And yet it happened exactly as predicted.

Clinching Texas’ electoral votes is already a given. In that sense, Cruz doesn’t add anything. If the VP has any coattails, then he should come from Virginia, North Carolina, Florida or the Upper Midwest.

It could well be Rubio or Scott Walker. I don’t think it will be Jeb unless the GOP-e puts a gun to his head.

I don’t know if Trump is even thinking of geographic regions but, if he is, he need not look at Texas. If he can’t win Texas, he’s already dead in the water.

hillary will easily carry NY

Are you sure about that? What about the terrorism issue, if Trump is the nominee? He's the best on it; she's the worst.

"Cruz has an ability to piss off just about everybody."

Speak for yourself please. I am very pleased about the Liberals and anti-Constitutionalists that he is pissing off.

You took an oath to "Uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies both foreign and domestic." Have you renounced that solemn oath?

What does Abbott bring that Cruz already doesn't bring in spades?

Cruz reminds me of the class nerd trailing the shadow of the popular guys......the popular guys are forced to brush off the nerd when he gets too close.

Awhile back Cruz pissed off the Trump team...they had to tell Cruz to back-off....he started saying HE was going to make America great again.

Cruz must be intoxicated from the fumes of Donald’s private jet.

He would be a bad VP pick-—b/c he’s too self-absorbed and would put his own ambitions ahead of Donald’s agenda.

No. Not easily. She'll have to fight him for it. Elections are largely about turnout. Turnout will favor Trump in the northeast. 25% of black people consistently poll for Trump. Trump pulls 50% of Republicans in a 15 man field in CT. I support Cruz, but I realize that Trump turns the whole map inside out for the consultant class and both party establishments.
