“Again, I think this is not true so I think a boycott of UPS is unwarranted. I donât have any affiliation with UPS either.”
I don’t think that it’s true, either - but it is plausible.
Again, I don’t think that this story is true, but it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility either. 10 years ago, I would have considered the idea crazy. Today, not so much.
Obama complains that people don’t trust the government - and then he wonders why this is so. Under different circumstances, that alone would be hilariously funny.
With all the media attention currently on the Syrian refugees I think it would be hard to keep it quiet as they arrive in the U.S. There is nothing “secret” about them and lots of people would have some knowledge of it.
We kept hearing about the New Orleans arrivals and the same picture that was not New Orleans kept being posted. Then it was Winston-Salem. New Orleans was flatly denied as false and Winston-Salem received some refugees last year, but it was supposedly a few dozen.
We repeatedly heard it was 10,000 yet snopes (yeah, I know they are left, but they still print it and put it out there) says it’s less than 2000 refugees in the last few years from Syria. What to believe?
You bring a load back, rather than travel back empty.
If there is no load on the truck, you aren't getting paid, just spending money to get there.
Despite trillions of dollars in government waste, I doubt the powers that be could resist getting a better deal--especially when it fits someone's agenda.
As leaps go, that is one that is just above 2+2=4.
Anyone here who trusts this administration either just got here or is a troll.
That said, I would like to see confirmation that this is indeed happening before I consider a boycott of anyone.
That it is a possibility has been settled (planes can be set up for this, orders can conceivably be given). The only question which remains is one of whether or not this is actually being done. Ferry flights are possible, and need not originate in the CONUS, but could be up from Mexico or other Western Hemisphere locations outside CONUS.
There is no doubt in my mind that this administration wants to bring in Muslim refugees. Obama has said so and he even lectured us and wagged his finger and put his nose up in the air about it.
However, I think there are so many people overwhelmingly against this that it would be extremely difficult to do this right now without having media coverage. I suspect they have put their plan on hold because there are enough Americans upset about this that the DNC has got to be wondering what it will do to them come election time - with the exception of the recent governors race they have pretty much lost every election in Obama’s second term.
At some point the simple political calculation is that the DNC recognizes this is a toxic issue and a huge negative campaign issue for Hillary. If this administration is hellbent on doing this they will prove they don’t give a crap about their party because Trump or Cruz would celebrate on inauguration day. It would be political suicide and I think that is why Obama is so upset.
The only thing he cares about is the destruction of America by any means possible. He cares not about either party of the US Congress.
I have always thought Obama believes himself to be far larger than his party or just does not care. I often felt the same way about Bush when he refused to fight back - I think Bush cared, I think he was just wrong not to fight. I guess Obama will have his chance to prove this with the refugees and it would serve him right if they get pasted and the next administration rolls back his agenda.
It is pretty obvious that the media and political class have far underestimated the anger of the public over immigration and this would cement that anger where millions (yes, I said millions) of democrats might cross over. Hillary is not very popular with some of her party or independents. On top of that immigration is not very popular with blacks or union voters. Right now immigration is the #1 issue fueling the election (trend Trump/Cruz), #2 is jobs/economy (wash - but history favors GOP after 8 rat years and Trump has tied jobs to immigration), and security/foreign policy (definitely favors GOP this year) is probably the #3 issue in my estimation. Obama has been an epic failure in the Middle East and most Americans question what we are doing and still worry about terrorism.
I am cautiously optimistic right now.
You were a Gravity Validation Specialist?
Yep, I was a lawn dart. Nothing too exciting though - did my time and they paid for most of college!
