Pretty simple reason as to why Trump polls poorly. The Cruzbots, Paulbots, Bernbots, Trump-haters will vote for anyone but Trump in online polls to boost their candidate's appearance as electable.
Why do Bernie & Ron Paul 2008 & 2012 & Cruz have ridiculous polls with them beating Trump or Obama or Clinton by 12 points?
Yeah, if I’m not a fanatic for Trump, I must be a card carrying communist intent on the destruction of the country. This race is well into the lunatic phase.

I work with uber-liberals daily. They are salivating over a Trump GOP candidacy. Every one I’ve talked to so far. He’s the one they want to run Hillary against. Not Cruz. They want Hillary, and Trump is the way they think that can happen, despite Hillary’s weakened condition.
Because to them, Benghazi doesn’t matter. Server-gate doesn’t matter. Only one thing matters. Keeping crazy uber-conservatives like Cruz out of the White House so that the liberal utopia initiated by Obama can continue. They are confident enough sane people exist they will have no trouble beating the iconic evil capitalist boogieman, Donald Trump. There simply is no need to fake these polls.

Well that is a question the more aggressive Trump supports must ask themselves. (And no I do not have any particular member in mind.) Are they helping or hurting Trump’s election prospects by insulting everyone who does not immediately agree with them. Are they helping or hurting Trumps prospects by slandering other GOP candidates?
Cruz and even Rubio are hardly H.Clinton or Sanders, but at times it is hard to tell that around here. There is such a thing as winning the battle and losing the war.
There are certainly respectful Trump supporters around here who articulate very good reasons to support Trump. There are other Trump claimed supporters who may well not be helping his cause.
I look at it like this. Like Obola, a helicopter dropped this community organizer into the white hut and said have at it.

"Trump haters" is a line invented to justify all the crap and dissonance that has replaced logical discussion. It is a fine excuse to stick your fingers in your ears and yell LALALALALALALA when someone says something you don't want to hear about your candidate of choice.

The Paulbots or Randbots would appear in large numbers yet Paul never polled well. It’s relative to the numbers.

I think Trump had it right after Nevada when he said he really liked to low educated.
Thinking is not an important part of Trump support. Trump is also right when he says he could shoot his own supporters and they would still support Him.
Trump can equivocate on Israel/ Palestine and Planned Parenthood.
