Why can't Colorado GOP vote on President like they do for GOP Senate or Governor candidates?[vanity]

Posted on 04/12/2016 5:20:43 AM PDT by ObamahatesPACoal

They have a popular vote where 100,000s people turn out.

Because the state party makes the rules.

You know that.....

Because that is the way the GOP wrote the rules. They published them over, what, 8 months ago? If the Republicans in Colorado don;t like it, they should change the leadership who wrote the rules, and change them. Also, Trump (and his supporters) claiming that the delegates were “stolen” is a sophomoric argument, at best. Trump’s campaign should have know the rules and had a presence in Colorado, like Cruz did, to win over delegates. personally, I don’t think it was an oversight. I think the Trump campaign thought they would have everything wrapped up by now. Once they realized they wouldn’t, they decided (despite what they say) that a contested convention was the best out come. Either Trump wins the vote at the convention, or he loses and gets to claim victim status, raising his brand name for further business (financial as well as political) in 2017 and beyond.

...and State parties make the rules in each and every state, district and territory.

IIRC, I think they were annoyed that Santorum got a lot of votes rather than Romney.

The ironic thing about doing this is that Cruz probably would have done very well in what they had before, it is some weird form of a Caucus. But they pulled these tricks and now it is possible to blast Cruz for winning without getting a single vote.

Trump lost. Get over it. Cruz played by the rules and won fair and square.

establishment makes the rules to favor what they want, in this case they favor cruz and have used their rules to ignore the voters wishes.

Yeah, if Trump loses because he doesn’t understand the rules then the rules must be changed so he wins.
Makes perfect sense, only in Trump world.

Notice that Trump never cared less about the CO state GOP rules until he lost.

So? and your point is? Of course the establishment make the rules. When will you learn that THIS is party politics of the primaries. Only in the General election do votes count to set the stage for the Electoral College vote, which actually elects the President. Stop being ignorant about the process!

It’s a lottery. The 4000 people by luck got a lot of Rubio and Cruzer’s in the draw. It’s like they let the first 4000 people vote in a primary and then cut it off.

It is not that simple.

The elite have just taken the voice of the people away and chosen for them. They have just told all those people their votes do not matter and it is as rigged as they had begun to think.....and I do not support Trump.

This was a stupid dangerous move with Americans already starting to feel their elections are bogus. This states GOP has done an incredible amount of damage to this election.....This is how emotions go out of control and people feel that elections do not work and if elections do not work then there is only one option left for those who have had enough.

This was a stupid and dangerous power play this election cycle. I have never seen such a stupid election cycle from all players.

so you advocate that the voter should not decide who their nominee is and that us voting is a waste of time?

You sound like another establishment ,. elitist hack on TV I have heard.
Exactly the same talking points.

well take this as a message to the party.
To hell with you elitist types as you might keep your jobs in DC and still go to your elitist cocktail parties, but we are not voting for you or the party again/

Im not advocating anything. The two party system is what it is. We either love it or hate it. If we don’t like that system, then we need to change the constitution and go to a popular election system for president.

I won’t argue the fact that the Colorado GOP made a monumental mistake. It is as simple as that though. The rules are the rules, no matter how inane, reckless, or self-destructive they are. Claiming that delegates were “stolen” shows exactly how out of touch someone is and a response I would expect from liberals, and not from people claiming to be conservative or libertarian.

One has to remember that this a process for a political party to choose a presidential candidate. It is not a plebiscite to choose a candidate. Party rules rule, as unfair as they may be.

If you truly believe that the Republican Party leadership favors Ted Cruz, I can’t help you. You’ll soon see that’s not the case at all.

Trump supporters can’t have it both ways. I read/hear some say crap like, “None of the other senators can stand him” or “Even members of his own party hate him”, then nonsense like “they favor Cruz” or “Cruz is an insider.” Both cannot possibly be true and as soon as the “Never Trump” movement is satisfied that Trump can’t get the 1,237 delegates necessary to win the first nomination vote, they’ll turn on Cruz in a heartbeat.

You seem to not understand or don’t want to .

cruz worked with Bush, he hired a Bush, he was helped by Romney, he was supported by Graham.
He has PAC which are establishment spening millions for him.

Are you for real to say that cruz is not establishment. he said this and when he saw his failing campaign and it has been as he has only won 4 just 4 primary states and one was his own with less than 50% of the vote decided to team with the establishment, hell cruz himself has said he is proud to be with Romney etc.

What more frigging proof do you need to get it into your head.?

Next you will be saying how the CO election is not rigged or corrupt.

The establishment thanks you for your service.
“Let me encourage other members of the establishment: Keep supporting Donald Trump because every time you do it, what it is doing is telling conservatives all over the country is where you stand and who stands with you”.

That’s retarded. People went to precinct meetings and voted on delegates. Those delegates went to district meetings and voted on delegates to go to states. Those delegates voted on delegates to go to the national convention.

Nothing “by luck” about it. It’s retail politics. It’s about showing up, not about Tweeting and going on Hannity.
