My suspicion is that is when he first became a US citizen officially and that is why he won’t release the records. Up until then he was solely a Canadian citizen.
The real point of the natural born citizen clause was to make sure there was no divided loyalty. They wanted someone who could ONLY be a US citizen and nothing else.
It is an exclusionary term.

Naturally a US citizen because there is no alternative.
If one is born with foreign citizenship(s) from foreign birth or parent(s) one is NOT a natural born citizen.

Cruz filed an incomplete statement to the FEC failing to disclose the loans from Goldman Sachs and Citibank. He had to amend those filings when it was discovered.
If there is anything improper in the Trump statement, please let us all know. I assume you have gone thru the 92 page report. What is questionable in it?

Trump is not an ideological conservative. He’s been in business his whole life. He’s a hard worker who’s raised a hard-working family, none of whom drink, smoke or go clubbing — Trump is organically conservative, he lives his life as a conservative.
His detractors like to view him through a filter of their own definition of conservative, which can be subject to partisan interpretation.
Businessmen bribe politicians and hide assets all the time and cheat on their financial statements.

You're trying to argue that anyone who had family help paying for college or with gas money to get to their community college isn't self-made, IOW, you buy the BS line that having a good family that helps you get a start is an unfair advantage. So, Trump's Dad should have had all that taken away in order to for Donald to not have an unfair advantage.

Do you really think Trump prepared this report himself? Do you understand how complex and time-consuming such a report is? I am fairly sure that this is the largest and most complex filing ever for a presidential candidate. Romney's and Kerry's paled by comparison.
