I feel I need to do this. This is tearing us apart like the state tearing a father away from his children during a divorce. I don't visit the DUmmies, Kos Crazies or the Huffingstuff Post because for one, they're insane, two, I like my sanity, and three, the websites are poorly designed, though that's mostly DU.
They're probably laughing hysterically at the civil war everybody is having, because this election did far more than they could ever hope to achieve. This is far worse than the 2008 and 2012 elections. We knew we were getting screwed either way, and held our noses to vote for the establishment candidates.
I was originally for Cruz when he first announced. He spoke intelligently, and I liked what he had to say. When Trump announced, I thought "what a novel idea, someone that has actually created jobs running for president. This should be interesting." At first, we thought Cruz and Trump would work together and maybe join each other later on as a president/vice president ticket. Then, as I guess is predictable, the mud flinging began.
Over time, information began to come out showing Cruz's history. It showed him as a regular politician with a shady past. Now most recently the allegations that Cruz has had multiple affairs.
Trump has had affairs while married, but he admitted to those. He didn't keep them secret.
I've noticed that our civil war has waned a bit, but that Mason - Dixon line we drew in the sand will probably not go away. Anybody on the other side of the aisle that pays attention to this site has been laughing themselves to tears. We need to stop throwing punches at each other and return to the civility we had before Cruz was the first to announce.
Trump is scared to debate Cruz on the issues. He would expose his lack of knowledge and inability to speak in coherent sentences. Trump will fail badly in a debate with Hitlery- I just hope we don't have to see it.
If Trump wasn't in this race, the tone would be completely different.
To me, that makes it pretty clear where fault lies.

If that’s truly the case, then I misread the comment posted above about him zotting people- but the following didn’t sound like it was directed at those attackign Jim personally

That sounds more like He’s going to zot people who frequently post their dislike for Trump or his policies or whatever- and saying he is going to do so soon because people are divided on the issue o who would be nominee

If you have something intelligent to say or some new information to pass on, then by all means say it. But if you only want to pass on false rumors like Cruz’s affairs and your opinion about his shady past (like what are you specifically taking about), then you should just shut up. You are guaranteeing that this forum will be no if different than the democratic Underground. You have itchy ears. You should read 2 Timothy 4:3 in the Bible if you don’t know what I mean. You are what is tearing apart Free Republic. Is that what you want? I say the same thing to Cruz supporters, by the way..

How people can fall for Trump is beyond me.

Cruz comes across as if he is putting on a big act, pretending to typify stereotypes of conservatives while not actually one himself. The fact that he has to tell us to trust him tells me there is something about him to distrust.
But, putting that aside, in what way does having a "perfect" ideology qualify one to be president? Cruz does not have the education or job skills necessary for the presidency. And lawyers have done spectacularly bad as president--disasters Clinton and Obama come to mind.
Personally, I prefer the candidate who already has executive experience. Sure, Trump has some flaws--just like the rest of us--but he has a good platform and has lived conservatism through building his business and creating jobs. And the fact that he is taking no special interest money means that he actually wants to represent the people, not do the bidding of big money donors.
He’s still tolerating them - I even saw Libbylu back on here a while ago. But a day of reckoning is surely coming. All should think very careful before making their decision as to whats side they wish to be on.
