But what on Earth IS their purpose?
Even if, by some miracle, Cruz manages to wrest the nomination away from Trump, does anyone anywhere think Trump’s people are just going to say “oh, okay. Whatever” and vote for Cruz? Speaking as one of them, HELL NO. Add a couple of million more HELL NO’s to that, and Cruz has absolutely, positively NO chance of beating Hillary in the general election.
Given that, WHY IS HE STILL IN THE RACE? I can’t believe he’s delusional enough that he doesn’t see that - so he’s just in it for... what? Ego? To screw Trump? To elect Hillary? Because he thinks he’s the anointed King of The World?
