It would explain why the successful mercantile culture hasn’t spread like it would in an otherwise moribund slavery - based or feudal society.
As well as why only the home of the Faceless Men is the only one where commerce does exist - as well as as why it is a faceless Bank.
Bureaucrats managing the Iron Bank don’t elicit the hatred and retribution an economic elite like Trump and Soros would.

Theories on tonight's episode?

Pearls Before Swine writes, "Tommen isn’t long for this world, as predicted by the witch that Cersei spoke with as a child.

Cersei was told to beware the younger brother. She always thought that meant Tyrion, and this was one of the reasons, perhaps the main one, she always hated him. GRRM being GRRM, I have long thought the younger brother meant Jamie, which would be GRRMlike. But I'm starting to think that the younger brother is Tommen. If Tommen is a true adherent to the Faith Militant, he could well order Cersei's execution, and Cersei could be responsible for Tommen's death in her fight to survive.

Or Cersei could accept her execution as a sacrifice to her son, which would be a nice twist as well -- Cersei going to her death with a note of grace.

Either course leaves Jamie in play to become a good guy by the end. That could go either way, but my hunch is that Jamie finds his way to redemption, though he may not survive it.

In all the speculation about Sansa, people have not much remarked on the fact that Sansa was betrothed to Joffrey, married to both Tyrion and Ramsay Bolton, coveted, kissed, kidnapped, and sold by Littlefinger, and found a protector in the Hound, who clearly (per the book) felt affection for her. We all know the story and take if for granted, but come to think of it, that is a pretty dazzling collection of ex-significant others. I've been overlooking that. That history is too good not to be developed in some way. Reuniting with Tyrion, who treated her with honor, is an obvious possibility, but it's perhaps too obvious for GRRM.
