I’ve followed Romanian Football since the early 90’s.
Romania has the same problem all Eastern European teams have when competing in the European Championships - which is much more difficult than the WORLD CUP.
Their domestic leagues are god-awful & full of corruption, their good talent jumps ship at the first sign of an abroad offer with dreams of millions, and once they are abroad they don’t get any playing time in the more competitive leagues since all the good talent is usually “Home Grown”.
About the only team worth their salt from Eastern Europe is Croatia. If you consider Czech Republic as “eastern Europe”, they are also consistent in International Football.
What's funny is that Stoichkov now does Spanish Commentary on Univision, didn't expect to find him there.
I’m fired up for ARG/US game, but unfortunately I’m not too hopeful. Argentina is playing too well.
We’re going to need to score some goals to win, so hopefully we don’t just try to put 11 guys behind the ball for the whole game. That will just guarantee a one or two goal loss. I don’t see us shutting them out no matter what strategy we employ.
That is funny. I could maybe see Stoichkov doing commentary for La Liga in Spain, as he played for Barca, but Univision is a surprise. Does this mean he lives in the US, I wonder??
As of now, Slovakia is in.
Looking like we’ve got a date with Switzerland.
I set my alarm clock for 3am.
GO USA!
Austria is still in it with one point as well, I don’t want to short anyone.
Austria will play Iceland in the next game. You’d think Iceland would have the advantage; Austria was highly thought of at first; but all of those teams are pulling their own.
Germany just undressed NI with that goal. Nobody marked Gomez and a friendly took McGovern out of the play.
They just said on ESPN that the Croat fans may plan on attacking the refs 30 minutes into the match. The Croats notified Security of this.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL POLSKA!!!!!!!!!!!
We probably need two more to win the group.
Germany wins the group. Poland second. Northern Ireland third.
Slovakia qualifies for the Round of 16.

Poland will be C2.
So, someone said “we look to play Switzerland”? That’s what I’m getting, Poland vs. Switzerland in the next round but I’ve already messed up reading the playoff schedule.
If you get passed the round of 16; you might get a tough opponent in the quarters but you definitely will by the semi-finals.
Poland needs a much better effort than that to beat Switzerland.
