Now that the initial shock of the Nice Bastille Day terror attack which claimed at least 84 lives has passed, and the investigation into the causes and motives behind the latest tragic mass killing has begun. Earlier this morning it was revealed that the driver of the truck used to attack Bastille Day celebrations in Nice has been named in local reports as 31-year-old delivery driver Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a Tunisian criminal, who is reported to be a French passport holder, and well-known to the police.
According to newspaper Nice-Matin, quoted by the Telegraph, the identity of the driver of the truck that drove into the crowds Tuesday night has been confirmed. It is the owner of the identity card that was found in the truck by police. He is from Nice and is of Tunisian origin, aged 31, called Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. Police raided his apartment in the Nice Nord district this morning. He works as a delivery driver and is known for criminal acts, including violence, but any radicalisation has gone unnoticed. His act seems yet to have been premeditated.

Of course he was just a criminal with no radical background. The whole approach in the West is fundamentally flawed. Except for Trump’s solution, which caused him to be excoriated by damn near everyone, including stalwart “conservatives” like Mike Pence and Newt Gingrich. The West approaches it as a terrorist and jihadi issue. As if we just need ways to spot this jihadis and fight the ideology. They embrace the ideology because they are already f-ed up people. Islam took root and flourished in these regions for the same way it takes root and flourishes in prison. IMO, Islam is very bad, even demonic, but Islam is the way it is because these people— out of which Islam grew— are the way they are. Not vice versa. But having said that, Islam provides these congenitally flawed people’s with justification for their evil. But still, it’s not as if they’d be like nice and productive South Koreans if not for Islam. My guess is that ultimately the problem is due to tribalism and consanguinity. But whatever is at the root, the stupid ideas— like the one Gingrich suggested last night about a Shariah loyalty quiz— will miss most of the dangerous people from the Islamic world who are neither radical nor ideological but still f-ed products of a dysfunctional consanguineous tribal land.
So when Donald Trump comes out and calls for a ban on people from Muslim countries and remarks, of the cuff, that there’s something there that is a problem, they are not right, and he doesn’t know what it is but there’s something going on, I realize that billionaires have an ability to see 6 moves ahead which mere mortals quickly judge as stupid bigotry.

The governments are playing the "plausible deniability" game with deadly consequences.
