Two Cheers For the State Legislators Article V Caucus
Article V Blog ^ | August 13th 2016 | Rodney Dodsworth

More than sixty state legislators representing thirty states recently concluded three years of work on suggested rules for an Article V convention, which can be viewed at the Assembly of State Legislatures (ASL) website.

Meeting at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, the participating state lawmakers debated, amended and voted to approve a draft that addresses all facets of the rules needed to hold a state-led convention for proposing amendments to the U.S. Constitution. These men and women are to be congratulated for their efforts. If accepted and actually followed by the convention, the rules will provide an orderly process that ensures decorum and dignity to a desperately needed convention.

As our national crisis deepens, I believe the states will, in the aggregate, equip their delegates, men and women of character and wisdom, with commissions suited for the emergency. In the Preamble to the rules, state delegates express thanks to God, and pledge to conduct the people’s business in a fair, collegial, and impartial manner, to work in good faith, and to honor both the letter and spirit of the Constitution and these rules. While not a defect, I wish the Preamble paid due to our Declaration’s Laws of Nature and Nature’s God. This basis of our Constitution is anathema to Leftists, and this acknowledgement would perhaps serve to flush out the enemies of our Revolution.

Readers familiar with the federal convention of 1787 will recognize both similarities and significant differences in these rules. This post will touch on similarities, but will focus on differences.

Article V convention can not accomplish a thing in 5 months ... perhaps not in 5 years, and if it's hillary, it'll never happen at all.

We needed this motivation in the 60's and 70's when a lot of evil was being legislatively done, seemingly with the consent of the people.

Truth is ... we weren't interested because there was (perhaps .. I was a little young and naive) no need to be alarmed.

I received my first gift book from a John Bircher in the mid 80's .. "None Dare Call It Treason" ... and I was never the same.

I continued on my way because I was working hard and long hours for my wife and 5 kids .... but that book stuck with me through the years.

Now I'm retired with every day Saturday, a computer and an interest I wish I had 35 years ago.

Vote Trump and let's see February 1st .... first.

I am all for fixing our country but I fail to see how amending text on a document that is pretty much ignored by the courts and executive branch is going to change things. YMMV.

The only worthwhile amendments are structural, such as those proposed by Mark Levin

Aside from Arkanciding delegates, Hillary can have nothing to do with a state convention.

Reform was needed in the 1930s when a democratically elected senate rolled over to a charismatic and popular president.

Dittos regarding None Dare Call it Treason.

Bingo. Failing to follow the current rules won't be fixed by changing the rules - only by changing the people in charge.

And trying to get changes in while the current folks are in charge, will result in getting their changes in, not ours. It doesn't matter what rules you create for this convention, they will be ignored. Some establishment figure will come in with a complete new document and have that forced through - like the Patriot act was ready and waiting for 9/11.

So work to get people in who follow the rules as the first priority.

I have been posting for a year now that if our side does win we can’t play by the rules. Our enemy does not. G W Bush did and see how that turned out. If we manage to wrest the levers of power this turn we need to utterly destroy these libtards for a generation or more. As they would say, “ By any means.”. As Lincoln said we cannot go on as a house divided.

What we need is a George Washington that will lay the power aside once the country has been fumigated. Pray Trump is that man.

Excellent — now all we need to do is set the time and place.

So this convention is a go? I really thought the Clinton machine would make this a lot harder.

You’ll always fail if you never try. But I get your point. They’re going to try anyway and participate in the process. Hopefully, those in this country will be courageous enough to fight for the Constitution.

Let us pray intervening events unfold such that the convention is no longer needed.

No, it isn’t yet a go. The Article V Caucus is just planning for it.

I think a convention is needed regardless. Future presidents and congressmen will not always be friendly to liberty.

Somehow corruption creeps in no matter. We need to start with changing ourselves instead of thinking we can curb evil with a document. I live on a small cul de sac and today I was just realizing that while there are several paychecks coming into each household there are only two people in the lot that paycheck does not come from the gummint in one form or another. Depressing.

It is sad that in Obama's America, the customary three cheers has been reduced to two.
