My brother teaches high school in Michigan. He’s well compensated but has had some pay cuts in the last few years that he’s always whining about.
Here’s the rub, he whines to me who works in the private sector and when the economy went south had a 100% pay cut and had to move my family 600 miles for a new job.
My sympathy level is pretty low.
Where I live now, I know several guys who were given temporary, short term 1-2 week layoffs due to Obama’s Sequester. I reminded them why I moved here and welcomed them to my world. Again, no sympathy.
Not easy news for all the small school districts scattered all over the state of Michigan. Consolidation has already taken place for most of them, so now it would only create several hour long bus rides each way for students, if most of the districts expanded or were absorbed.
Combat pay
Where’s the “added value”?
