Lester Holt Was Biased
September 26, 2016 | Pinkbell

Posted on 09/26/2016 8:45:58 PM PDT by Pinkbell

Hillary was well rehearsed and polished indeed, but she had help from the moderator. What did Lester ask Hillary that was tough? He asked Trump four tough questions:

1) He asked Trump about his taxes.

2) He asked Trump about the birth certificate.

3) He pressed Trump on his opposition to Iraq.

4) He asked Trump about his comments on Hillary not having the "look" of being President and then proceeded to repeat Meghan Kelly's point about Trump calling women pigs, etc.

5) He rebuffed Trump on stop and frisk (saying that stop and frisk was found unConstitutional). He responded, but to it, but still...

Also, I don't know how many times Hillary Clinton was allowed to ramble on, but Trump would attempt to respond, and Lester would say something like, "Only a few seconds, Mr. Trump," or "We really have to move on, Mr. Trump, and get to the next question."

CNN keeps saying that Trump went into the weeds. Well, Trump was responding to Lester's questions.

Things you didn't hear:

1) He never asked Hillary about Benghazi.

2) He never asked Hillary about her emails.

3) He never asked Hillary about pay for play.

As I said, she was polished and rehearsed. Trump dropped some opportunities with regard to this. Here are some:

One example is how he handled the birther issue being called racist. There were other ways that could have been addressed like bringing up white Presidents questioned over their birth, explained he questioned Ted Cruz, explained why it wasn't racist, explained concerns with why people questioned birth certificate, etc.

Another example was about his comments about women. That was not good that he went for the Rosie O'Donnell line. He should have talked all about how he hires women at the Trump Organization and his record there, about the women who support him, about how she takes money from countries that are terrible to women, about the Benghazi and angel moms, about the woman whose life is ruined because Hillary defended her rapist when she was 12, etc. He should have talked about what he will do for women and how his policies will help women.

A third example was about Saudi Arabia when she said he wanted them to get a nuclear weapon. He should have talked about how she takes money from them. That could have led into pay to play.

A fourth example was taxes where he let her get away with saying he doesn't pay taxes. After the debate they asked him, and he said that he does pay federal taxes. He should have talked about the waste with our tax dollars too.

Benghazi, the emails, and pay for play weren't brought up by Lester, but Trump should have tried to work them in more. Of course, that's hard when Lester seemed to let her drive the conversation by always telling Trump he had to move on.

The focus groups on two networks, one being CNN, showed Hillary winning the debate 18-2 and 16-6. The CNN poll after the debate which had a much larger Dem sample, showed her winning by a large margin.

It was his first debate. CNN's panel universally agreed he did a great job at the beginning on trade and the economy. His team a couple weeks to prep and be ready for the next one. She is a good debater, but she has a lot of canned lines. He has a good feel now for how she is going to handle things, and I think he can prepare for the next one. Hopefully the moderator is more balanced and puts her on the defensive more with some tough questions her way. Watching her smirk as he got tough questions while she got none was disgusting.

Excellent response. Excellent. His team has to work with him and go over all the points of attack.

He didn’t handle the birth certificate well. They asked, so he had to defend himself. He could have said it was brought up by people close to Hillary and her supporters. It had nothing to do with race as past white presidents have been questioned on their places of birth, and he also questioned Ted Cruz. If he really wanted to get into it, he could have talked about how it has nothing to do with place of birth but everything to do with Obama’s unique background with his father, that literary agent saying he was born in Kenya, his grandma saying he was born in Kenya (that’s disputed by liberal sites), and that it’s not racial because it was specific to Obama. It’s not like it would have been asked about someone like Ben Carson (who Trump ran against) or Corey Booker. (This is probably too much to explain during a debate, but it’s hard when you have to clarify positions and your opponent remains unchallenged on anything by the moderator.)

What about the points I brought up about what he asked Trump but didn’t ask Hillary?

Well, I have to hope that Trump is richer than I am, maybe he is smarter, too. Maybe he figured tonight was sort of a “reconnaissance in force” and he would just hang back and let her tip her hand. Let her get all her best stuff out and get a sense of what she has and how she uses it without revealing too much of what he has. Maybe that explains it. He has two more to put her away. He is supposed to be America’s best closer. Pray in the future he realizes the audience, voters he wants, is out here, not there in front of him or across the stage. He needs to close the deal with that audience. Not defend himself against her slander. Drive three or four answers into EVERY response. The debt, reduce inner city crime with jobs, create jobs with competitive taxes. Just hammer those three into the moderator’s skull and let Hillary slander him all she wants.

I remember watching Reagan do just that. It worked. His only response to Hillary’s slander should be more like, “you can say whatever slanderous things about me you care to, I am not here to defend myself I am here to defend America.”. Now that is a phrase he might want to write on the back of his hand.

Lester Holt behaved as if his principal duty as debate moderator was to protect Hillary Clinton at all costs. He never pressed her on any subject (emails, Benghazi, Clinton Foundation, Wall Street speeches, DNC rigged primaries) and failed to follow up whenever Trump raised valid criticisms.

He seemed fearful of being labeled like Matt Lauer.

He should have said”what difference does it make” dig at Hillary. Or better yet “Why don’t you ask Zero why he claimed he was born in Kenya, if he wanted this cleared up he could have long ago.”. PERIOD. He made it about Trump. STOP IT. He wastes time doing that and raises concerns about just WTF is he doing? I wish I could shake him by the lapels. IT AIN’T ABOUT YOU. STOP IT. But he keeps doing it. If I see it she sees it. It is his Acilles heel and if he don’t put some armor over it he could get hurt.

Duh. Media bias is a given. If his team is going to take refuge there then they should have not debated. They didn’t. He wanted the opportunity to show he was better in spite of it. He needs to get a hold of himself and do it. We think he is. He thinks he is. We all agree Hillary would sell what she couldn’t steal as America slid under the waves. He needs to CLOSE THE DEAL. He is supposed to be good at that.

Maybe my conjecture about reconnaissance is correct. I hope so.

I wouldn’t be surprised if ‘lester holt bias’ was the top trending topic on twitter, I saw hundreds of tweets containing those three words before I got tired and stopped searching for them.

This is a good learning opportunity for Trump to get a feel for her arguments. She used up all the talking points tonight (or a good part of them anyway). He and his team have a good feel for how these are going to go, and he can be adequately prepared next time.

That’s a great line about defending America, though.

I got a little pissed when both Clintoon and her uncle Lester started pointing their fingers at Trump and calling him a racist. Personally, I found that very childish of both of those ***holes.

No he did not treat Hillary the way he treated Trump. Did ANYONE think he would? If so, they need a dose adjustment. Trump was supposed to rise above it.

Let us hope he went easy on her just to get a feel for her. Let her get as mean and nasty as she can. He will have many things he could have said occur to him in nights to come. Let us pray he works on polishing those to perfection keeping on mind the goal is not to humiliate her or defend himself. The goal is to share his vision of a better America with people who will then vote for him.

Larry Elder on Fox right now with Hannity talking about how Trump let so many things go that he could have hit her on. He supports Trump too.

The media narrative will be exactly that... that he was afraid of being labeled as unfair toward Hillary and too easy on Trump. I’m surprised there is not more discussion of the tactics of the collusion here. Let’s take liberals at face value for a moment and interpret what it actually means:
1) they TRULY believe Lauer posed more difficult questions to Hillary in the CiC Forum than to Trump.
2) they truly believe Lauer did not do an adequate job fact-checking Trump on-the-fly during the CiC Forum.

ok, why is that important?
3) not only does it provide cover for Holt to show bias toward Clinton in the first real debate since the narrative has been laid that the CiC Forum was unfair in favor of Trump, it gets the hard questions for Hillary out of the way BEFORE the first debate, BEFORE Trump is there to aggressively counter her lies. Holt no longer needs to go down the email & Benghazi line of questioning... ‘afterall, Lauer covered that last time, and as we all know, he was very aggressive toward Hillary.’
4) NOT aggressively going after Trump on his statements in the CiC Forum, left the door open to ‘factcheck’ him and demand they be revisited at the next ‘debate’... this is exactly what happened with Trump’s statements on his Iraq war stance.

The whole thing is a setup... not just tonight, but the whole series of debates has been a collusion amongst the MSM (including FNC) and the political establishment. The plan thus far has to been to broach the difficult questions for Hillary during the CiC Forum when Trump is not there to counter... complain the moderator was unfair to setup debate 1... revisit Trumps answers to allow Hillary to counter and keep Trump on the defensive in debate 1. So, the question needs to be asked, what is the next element of their grand plan? My guess would be that Raddatz and Cooper play the racist/sexist/homophobe card all night long, likely with a few LBGTQ service-members or gold-star parents of the same among the town-hall crowd... Raddatz and Cooper will make no effort to be impartial as it will be expected/advertised that with an FNC personality hosting the last debate, things should balance out. In the last debate, Trump will feel the pressure to be on the attack, will largely succeed with no help from Wallace, and will be roundly accosted for being too aggressive in his treatment of a ‘lady’ and demonstrating the lack of temperament expected of the POTUS.

Sound about right?

Disgusting but it is what it is. If you are going to do it then go in the lion’s den and do it but don’t go in and then complain. Personaly I would have refused unless half the debates were moderated by Rush and Levin. Trump seems to understand PR, though. His rallies are supporters. If he wants to get votes from her he has to reach folks that are tuning in to see her. If everything is about him he won’t do that. If he gets bogged down in this BS of fact checking he can’t do that.

He needs to stand there and talk to those folks. He needs to point out that these two(the moderator and Hillary) don’t seem to care about $20 Trillion in debt, or no jobs for inner city youth, or taxes that are killing our country.

Drive those three topics like spikes into them. Show some passion for MAGA not defending himself. Act like a humble servant who has gone voluntarily into the lion’s den to, with the Grace of God MAGA. Play Daniel. Look around Trump IT’S A LION’S DEN. BE DANIEL. You will come out in the morning and in January we can pitch Zero, Hillary, the MSM in there.

Dammit. Get a grip. The country can’t take more of the corruption Hillary represents. I am convinced most of the country is praying for Trump. All he needs to do is play his part. Get on his knees and pray to be delivered of his ego for just eight years. Then he can go back to making it all about him.

Holt is a commie punk. It was obvious going into the debate he was going to help Hitlery and do his best to trip up Trump. Which he did.

Que the “I’m shocked” meme. Commie Dem anchors are always going to help the Dem and screw the GOP nominee. Meanwhile, the GOP leaning anchors play Mr. Straight and Fair.

Same as it ever was.

That is expected... the next debate will not be a back and forth of the same variety... it will be a series of setups from plants in the town-hall audience. Would pretty much guarantee an LGBTQ service-member or Gold Star parent of the same will ask about his back-and-forth with that Khan guy. They need to figure out how the Town Hall debate falls into the master plan.

But Trump never let Holt get the last word and was happy to fight both of them. Holt only made Trump a sympathetic character with his continual interruptions.

Pray America wakes

You are seeing that as a Trump supporter. We don’t know how the undecideds saw that. For all I know, they took it at face value, which helps Hitlery, which was Lester Holt’s job. Help Hitlery, trip up Trump. He did.
