I’ll give it a try on Twitter.

Just think, we'd never have to say “tweeted” again.

Instead, we can say we're just "gab'ing" with friends. :-)

I’ve been on gab.ai for a few months now. It has some growing to do but it is very encouraging. Lots of conservative thinkers on it.

There is purportedly a new site like Twitter... I have long thought there should be an alternative and apparently now there is

Purportedly? Apparently? No, it's definitely real. You can navigate to their website and everything!

“Where is the .ai domain?”
==
It can be anywhere - i.e. you can be in West Buzzard Creek, Wyoming ,and buy a name with the .ai extension. If you have a domain name that is already taken in the .com - .net - .org world you can buy another lesser known extension. (I would guess that”Gab” is already taken, hence the use of .ai).
But if the extension did were restricted to a geographic location, this would be in Anguilla.
To find out who owns a domain you need to do a “who is” check. You can search sites such as this one for gab.ai:
https://www.whois.net

I know you did not ask me, just using your post to give my impression of gab.

It was not a long wait-not sure but after twitter started banning certain posters before the election, gab seemed to work overtime clearing those on the waiting list. (Not fact, just my impression).

I only lurk. Sites such as gab & twitter confuse me. I like a conversation to have a beginning with a progression to an end, like the threads here.

NOT a criticism of gab-it’s just the way my brain works. Sooner or later I will get a handle on it & stick my toe in the water.

Anyway, It is a good site with promises of no censorship. I do follow a few gabbers [?] that were purged from twitter.

No censorship means no censorship which means there will be posts I find objectionable/offensive/repugnant. That's okay. I'm a big girl, I can handle words, even the “baby kitty” word. Doesn't bother me, but it does bother others so “baby kitty” it is. :-). (Not sure, but I think there is a way to filter what you see

“Sites such as gab & twitter confuse me. I like a conversation to have a beginning with a progression to an end, like the threads here.”

Think of it as more of a grapevine. The hashtags, #MAGA, are used to sort of categorize things. You CAN have a conversation but it’s one on one and limited to 300 characters which is better than the twit’s 140 characters.

Kind of a cross between drudge and FR. Mostly used as a P2P news aggregator but with the ability to converse. Also, you can pick and choose which people to follow, like twitter.

I suppose there’s a few Buzzard Creeks across this big land of ours!

Thank you. Your response pulled it all together. A lightbulb moment for a very simple concept.

LOL! I am almost embarrased, it is so simple. Until now Twitter was like gazing into my own hyperactive brain. Now I see order instead of disjointed chaos. :-)
