Conservative blogger, Michael Strickland, a former contributor at The Gateway Pundit and Progressives Today, was jailed in Portland, Oregon in July of 2016 after he pulled a gun on a gang of thugs who were going to attack him at a black lives matter protest.

In 2015 Michael was jumped by an anti-gun activist who broke his arm in three places at an anti-Second Amendment event.

Victoria Taft reported on Mr. Strickland’s 21 count felony indictment which you can read in full here.

Strickland, 37, was found guilty of 10 counts of unlawful use of a weapon, 10 counts of menacing and one count of second-degree disorderly conduct.

Here is the video of Michael Strickland pulling out his gun…

You’re an idiot. He had NO obligation to flee. He had every legal right to be there. Do patriots a favor and never serve on any juries. Fool

He may not have wanted to take someone’s life. What’s the problem with that?

“....Well, he must of did the right thing. No shots fired and nobody hurt. Why put him in jail?.....”

I think you had better read up on the law and the legal use of deadly force. The law doesn't like vigilantes, but will accept rarely a plea of self defense if there little choice.

Anytime you pull a concealed carry weapon out of concealment, you should assume you will face trial. That is why you should only pull your weapon to shoot as a means of saving your life or preventing great bodily harm. Anything else is just a judicial crap-shoot.

“......In most free states you can use deadly force to protect yourself or someone else from death or injury. Most reasonable people believe that you can use your firearm to stop a serious crime that has the potential to harm someone..........”

Absolutely true, but the key is “when can you use deadly force?

His actions show that he didn't feel his life was in immediate danger, otherwise he would have fired his weapon.

In many jurisdictions you loose the right to a claim of self-defense, if you escalate a confrontation by drawing a deadly force weapon. And that is probably what happened in the mind of the jury.

If someone comes at you with a knife and drops the knife and backs off when you pull your gun you probably shouldn't shoot.

We see no video of the mob so you have no idea what they were doing. Maybe brandishing knives, clubs, molotov coctails?

Obviously he was in fear or he wouldn't keep backing away.

He was probably convicted because Seattle is a liberal black hole where the Left reigns ascendant.

I would like to see the video that he shot, if any.

Hopefully an appeal will be granted and a change of venue to Eastern OR.

You’re wrong. He did do something wrong. It is not reasonable to to create a perilous circumstance and then brandish a weapon. He had no reason to be there, and nothing was stopping him from retreating. He had no cause to pull. His conviction is just.

Free people don’t have to have papers or reason to be somewhere in a free nation. We are under no obligation to run and cower from evil. You suck. You don’t deserve the constitutional freedoms given to you by free patriots. Kitties like you run away as a part of the requirement/expectation of law. Sick!

I love the armchair commandos yelling, "He unholstered his gun...so there should be DEAD BODIES everywhere!" as if mobs are predictable and rational.
He was likely threatened, he protected himself, they backed-off, and he holsters his pistol. That is ideally how it happens.
Thugs consider they might get ventilated and opt to not attack an innocent bystander. Sounds perfect.

Most do.I suppose they are going to have to find themselves on the wrong side of the bars to realize that the police are not on our side. If they ever do.

The idea that it is reasonable, or lawful, to roll up in a BLM protest, start a fight, then pull a gun, is crazy.

He set himself up, and got caught doing it. He thought it was okay to put himself unnecessarily in danger, and then pull a gun to get out of the situation he set up.

It’s not.

You are precisely and 100% correct, wgmalabama.
My bucolic and pleasant neighborhood became swarmed with a Soros-sponsored, sudden, BLM thug demonstration totally out of nowhere four months ago.
I was in my home...yet I could have EASILY been walking from town or otherwise found myself (unwillingly) in the midst of a nasty mob.
Good people can find themselves in a violent and unstable situation quickly and by no choice of their own. You are spot-on accurate.

Yes, yes, threaten me, call me names... whatever.

The law is the law.

He brandished his firearm without cause.

Don’t do what he did unless you want to go to jail.

Even here in the Gunshine state we’d convict you.
