I haven’t had a single
issue with a lifter in
the 36 years I’ve been
driving the CJ. I wheel
with a lot of guys who
swap out their AMC power
plants for one reason or
the other. It’s your Jeep.
That’s all part of the fun,
and you ultimately end up
with what works for you.
It could be you’ll spend
more on body, steering,
modifications, cooling,
electrical, and suspension,
only to find it cheaper
to stick with the AMC
power plants it was designed
for. Just my .02...

I’m a firm believer in keeping it simple s___ (whatever).

Better than even chance I’ll get another 6-258 but I shop around sometimes.

That little Willys turned out to be more deteriorated than even I thought and undoing other’s handiwork hasn’t helped.

The 65 is 95% rewired though. I made it future friendly since big bulky me working under a jeep dash is not a good mix when I put on the new dash panel.

One accessory I added was a combination 12V lighter and USB charger. Amazon had one at a great price.

A lot of stuff on it came from Amazon. The rest from Lowe’s, Bolt Depot, Walcks, KaiserWillys.com, and Tractor Supply.

I’ve also done a lot of drilling and learned to love stepper bits.

I plan to stay factory/stock mostly with that CJ7.
