Ratings don’t matter all these channels have to do is serve as a platform for famous people to make statements that are picked up and passed around by the rest, and to pass around the muck the others are stirring up.
Somehow they seem to be broadcast in most of the airports too. Captive audiences there.
Ted Turner thought that CNN would never actually go off the air until the end of the world, so he made a “doomsday” sign-off tape with a military band playing “Nearer, My God, To Thee”. This snuck out and is on the youtubes.
Looks like they should have hung on to it. Who would have thought that their doom would be of their own making.
CNN is ISIS.
Subtract out all the TV monitors at airports and it’ll be even lower than that; it’s forced viewership.
I know when I see it on in public places doctors offices, motels etc. I do complain and ask them to switch the channel or sneak up to the TV and turn it off.
I just cut my Comcast Cable, and there are none of our $’s going to CNN in any form.
We never had Direct TV.
We completely cut the cord, too, in every form. No money is going to CNN or Comcast. None!

Do they somehow get official ratings points, from being on the TV in airports or other public places? Nobody is really watching, and the sound is turned down, so I would be surprised that such “viewers” would count.
Aren’t there phone apps that will change the channel? ( Haven’t been to an airport in years.)

There is actually a CNN Airport channel. Not the same as what’s seen on home cable. It’s by subscription and doesn’t count in ratings.
This Morning Joe/Trump fracas may, mostly, be a ploy to drive down CNN’s competing show’s ratings.
CNN deserves every viewer it doesn’t get.

Serious question, anyone know how we get this changed? I am so sick of putting up with CNN every time I go to an airport.
Yes, that is true of all channels that are included in the basic bundle.
That is why I will not pay for cable tv until they offer a la carte programming.
I think it’s how many TV’s are tuned to CNN, then calculate traffic in the area (??) in airports anyway. Since it’s cable news wouldn’t the provider know who’s watching?
