How many people in this country have ACTUALLY read and UNDERSTAND the purpose of our 2nd Amendment??? Try reading the whole thing and understand why it was written. It is ONE sentence but Critically IMPORTANT to our liberty!
It wasn't written so we can hunt!!!
It was written to preserve our right to form a MILITIA to fight back against a tyrannical government.
I know it's not a likely scenario, but it is essential element of our freedom and liberty and the founding fathers knew it was critical to keep government in check.

I agree and will add the full intent was to ensure PARITY. What do I mean? Musket to the gov’t, musket to the people. Do you think there is parity today? No...there is not. We are already losing the battle, and have already lost the parity intended by the amendment. That’s why Dems want...ban on auto (already got that), ban on semi-auto (had it, now trying again). They will keep working us back to single shot muzzle loaders if they can because we will lose parity. We have already lost our ability to fully defend ourselves from the gov’t and they will keep trying until we have nothing but sling shots.
Actually, it not what the 2nd Amendment actually says, or what it is intended to do, it’s what the Marxists can convince the unknowing and uneducated tools that is says or stands for;
They know the truth, but they can’t let their sheep know too, it would undermine them.

People need to stop and think about why the bill of rights were written. They were intended to restrain government power over people. It was meant to stop tyranny.
The spirit of the 2nd amendment was very specific. If you let the government disarm the people, you’ve got a huge problem. This is because the first thing that a tyrannical power wants to do is to subdue a rebellion before it starts.

I have had it with the IDIOCY!!!

It may not be needed today, tomorrow, next week, next year or in the next 100 years.
But some day, it will be needed and we will thank GOD that it is there and we have preserved our rights to defend ourselves, form our own militia/military and preserve our freedoms.
Benjamin Franklin said "we now have a Republic, if we can KEEP it!"
Don't be so quick to give our rights away!! Once you forfeit your rights to the government, what are the odds you will EVER get them back?? Let me help you with that -->> ZERO!!!
There are numerous reasons why these shootings happened and we should address the core issues they happened (respect for life, over-medicating our youth, soft/gun-free targets, toxic, hateful media, and much more...).
Let's address these REAL reasons rather than blaming the instrument used to kill and the pathetic, expected, uninformed knee-jerk reaction to HAND over our rights to the government just so people can feel noble and woke at their work places and coffee shops...
And all I hear is BAN this, RESTRICT that by people who have NEVER read and are so uninformed of the reasons why we have the 2nd amendment.

The Second Amendment SPECIFICALLY recognizes the RIGHT of THE PEOPLE (INDIVIDUALS) to KEEP and BEAR shoulder arms and side arms of MILITARY UTILITY.
That would include burst-fire tactical rifles, sub-machine gins, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, shoulder fired missles and anti-tank weapons, and THE AMMUNITION for them!
You mean like the militias of the Southern States that tried to defy the tyrannical Federal government in 1860 to 1865?
...and we came damned close to activating it during the Obama “administration.” Look at gun sales for proof.
You can;t have slingshot in NYS, at least ones that have a wrist brace.
And the leftist idiots will say “okay, you can have your muskets and swords”

Only if they can say it via village crier or newspaper. They can't use the Internet, telephone, telegraph, or anything more modern than 1776.
The purpose of the 2nd is to allow us (the people) to have a fighting chance at repelling intrusive/tyrannical government.
That was the purpose of militias.
It is not idiocy.
Both the communists and the New World Order need to disarm the American public in order to control us. They still remember the Japanese Emperor saying that if they invaded the USA, there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.
The communists filled the schools, took over the media, and have been brainwashing the mush-brained masses for since the 1960s to hate guns and want them banned.
It is not idiocy at all. It is a genuine conspiracy of the communists and New World Order convincing their brain dead minions in America to do their bidding.
And they will never stop calling for a ban on guns until they get it.
I have not doubt in my mind — and I mean NONE — that some generation in the future will be so brainwashed, that they will allow the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution to be made invalid. I mean legally, with a vote of states or some such thing. At some point the American masses will be so dependent on government, and so brainwashed, they will demand a ban on guns.
I don’t know when, but I guarantee you this will happen. And then America will be done. Totalitarian government will immediately follow. I hope this doesn’t happen for another 100 years, but I don’t know. We are getting closer with every subsequent generation of school brainwashing.
Nobody hunts anymore. I pray I am wrong. There are all kinds of new gun owners presently, but they all seem to be older generations, not the young.
