I really cant imagine this forum is used for this mindless crap. This is a NEWS forum. Not a personal failing discussion site.

Yes, it has a built-in CD drive, which Win File Mgr/ Win Explorer easily sees. Running 2009 Win-7 Pro 64 bit. It’s an industrial/office-grade HP/Compaq 6000 Pro Microtower.

Does it sound/feel like the drive spins when a new disc is put in? If it has an LED on it does it blink when you close the drive?

He won't reply because no one takes him seriously. Freepers are most of the time great, but I find it noteworthy that too many find a post an opportunity to laugh and belittle another freeper because “it is funny.” To those who do this, think again. I certainly don't expect this post to gain any traction.

Internal CD. Can’t remember what software I used to use for playback, it’s been so many years. Win Media Player, maybe?

Try ejecting it, wiping it (with a cloth), and re-inserting it. Careful the insides don't come out. That's where all the memory is.

Very often you have to do troubleshooting to fix these kinds of problems. To troubleshoot, you may need to have a working computer, and then you swap things. Just like seeing if you light bulb is still good, put it in a socket that works. Or the other way around. To see if the socket works, put a working bulb in it. Good luck, and make sure to vote for George Bush.

I’m working my way thru replies, but the pancreatitis of last evening has me weakened that I’m making lots of typing mistakes, and manually correcting them is time-consuming. Sorry.

I’ve restarted the box 3x, but don’t know how to stop/re-start the CD player itself.

Try clicking on the song with the right button and select play with, and then select the player? Perhaps that might work.

CD light is on, blinks, and I can hear the whirring/whizzing for a few secs, but then it stops.

Try another CD. Bad CDs will whir, whiz, and stop.
Cleaning the CD can sometimes help it along.
