Why is America's Suicide Rate Skyrocketing?
IWB ^ | Chris Black

Motto: the future ain’t what it used to be.

Let me begin with some grim factoids: suicide is now the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. Every year, almost 45,000 Americans “blow their brains out” (most of the suicides involve firearms), and for every “successful” suicide, if I may use the word, 25 attempt and fail at it, fortunately. More than half suicides involve guns, hence the hyper-inflated gun crime stats used by the left to snuff the second amendment, and there are 123 suicides per day on average in the Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. White males make for 70 percent of suicides, as per 2016 data, while men overall die by suicide 3.53x more often than women, with middle aged white men in particular being susceptible to commit suicide.

Same reason as why mass shootings have exploded. Widespread use of antidepressants and SSRI drugs, combined with militant atheism and perversion.

The usual: No religion, no children and no grandchildren = No hope for the future and no prayer of success (literally), no comfort, all pornography/drugs/surface dating/casual sex/work/sports only lifestyles, all commercial products and appearance of success (not actual success), ...

Darwin succeeds!

When abortion/gay marriage/lesbian relationships, divorced relationships (over and over again) with no stigma of failure are PRAISED - instead of countered or condemned by the culture, then the “Natural drive to perpetuate the species (the person)” is warped mentally into an endless “I have failed” depression.

And those who succumb to that depression are right. They have failed in the one drive that every OTHER life on earth intends. Except today’s liberal culture of death.

Anti depressants. Abortion culture. Day care and the abandonment that takes.

Snowflake expectations crashing into real world realities, and psychoactive prescription drugs.

It all traces back to the schools. We lost the schools a hundred years ago and are paying the price now.

The mid-life crisis is intensified from use of potency enhancing drugs? Suicide on steroids?

But now faith, hope, love, abide these three;
but the greatest of these is love.

What happens when Faith whithers
What happens when Hope dies
What happens when Love grows cold?

The answers to this are all around

What is seen in society now is a catastrophic failure of primary Virtues,

Gratitude, Humility, Prudence, Fortitude, Courage, Justice,
Temperance, Chastity, Charity, Patience, Kindness...

Secular humanism.

There is no God, there is no common fabric of the Universe, QED there is no point to existence.

Being “good” is a choice, not an imperative. Live or die, it makes no difference.

Dang. I am bumming MYSELF out. Thank God He exists and reminds me daily of His miracles, starting with my wife, my family and then going on the the beautiful and delicate Japanese elm in front of my door (in Texas mind you) and the majestic Oak in my back door.

People who do not see God and His wonders and love in the significant and pedestrian rob themselves of life and love.

No wonder they end what they see as meaningless.

I think I dated 4 of them in college. Maybe 5. On at least one occasion I enjoyed the latter.

wholesale deflation of the value of the human soul and spirituality

coupled with massive inflation of everything else (from self esteem to relationships to material goods and healthcare)

The numbers extend only through 2016. The increase is almost entirely in the Obama administration years. This was during the Great Recession of the Obama years.

During those years, older white men were villified. Detesting them was considered legitimate. They were especially vilified if in rural areas. If they had been blue collar, their employment was often gone, and economic hope with it. Large numbers of thrifty retirees saw their income plummet as government bond returns fell through the floor. An enormous amount of wealth was transferred from those investing in government bonds to those investing in the stock market. Many saw an insurance premium as a way to save family members or the family business or farm. Many veterans despaired with the odious attacks on the military by the Obama administration.

I expect the numbers of suicides to go down with the Trump presidency, which gives men hope that they are not forgotten, gives veterans an idea they are appreciated, and which has brought back employment and rational policy to the United States.

I agree with your post. Those factors have been very strong. Ever since the 1980s, there have been waves of recessions and difficulties, where people who have worked for years find themselves with nothing. By 2010, this was a crisis for so many men, and they did not survive.

“I expect the numbers of suicides to go down with the Trump presidency”

I expect the same thing. There was ZERO opportunity in this country for a significant number of people. Couple that with substance abuse and you’re going to see a lot of people commit suicide.

I saw a few people mention antidepressants. I don’t think they play a significant role. There is certainly a correlation between suicide and antidepressants. However, outside of that fact, they’re a great boogeyman for the pseudoscience people out there that want to peddle overpriced herbs and other garbage to help people ... antidepressants help a LOT more than they hurt.

Hopelessness is making the suicide rate rise. Satan is keeping people in hopeless nonbelief.

You are absolutely correct Robert. When we no longer know how we got here, why we’re here, and no longer know where we’re going, it’s no wonder. Our spirits are starved.

Toss in rampant drug abuse and a low culture, it’s a recipe for what we’re seeing.

No nuclear family, so no emotional foundation, no feeling of stability. no confidence of love existing in life. People bouncing off the proverbial walls feeling disconnected from everything and everyone. JMHO.
