Yes and Paul McNutt probably could have gone on to become U.S. president if he hadn’t made so many enemies among America’s unsympathetic State Department while trying to help Quezon with this.

Even in the Philippines today, Germans are not well liked by the average Filipino. I am not sure how much this has to do with it, since history is not something they learn a lot about.
