I voted for George W. Bush – both times – and campaigned for him.
And I think he’s a great president.
In some ways.
But in some others, he’s a failure as a president. Like this statistic: Since George W. Bush became president the number of illegal aliens in the United States has increased by almost 25 percent.
In hard numbers, more illegals – overwhelmingly from Mexico – have come into the United States during the first four years of the Bush Administration than there are legal Americans living in Alaska.
Or Arkansas.
Ditto for Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Enough Bush illegals have snuck into our country to populate a medium-sized state.
The Bush record is 150,000 Americans in Iraq and almost 3 million illegals in America. In terms of true national defense, how does he stand?
By the end of his second term, it is expected he will have allowed the number of illegal aliens in this country to have grown by half.
Or more. Possibly quite a bit more. Because instead of talking about a crackdown on our southern border, he’s talking about an amnesty and looser immigration rules.
George W. Bush has been the catalyst for illegal immigration – primarily from Mexico – into the United States. Consequently, he has been part of a problem which is a greater threat to the stability and security of the United States than terrorism ever thought of being.
And that is all the more troubling considering the fact that he, as president and commander in chief, has the ultimate responsibility to protect this nation. It is a responsibility, in this regard, in which he is utterly failing.
The future of this nation, particularly in the Southwest and West, has been unalterably changed for the worse because George W. Bush has been asleep at the switch.
We’ve stopped illegal immigration into Iraq from Syria and Iran, but we’ve done nothing to stop illegal immigration into the United States from Mexico.
It is almost an act of treason. He has acted as an odd modern-day Quisling. We are being invaded and he is siding with the invaders.
Again, I’m a Bush supporter. I’m Republican to the bone. The Democrats would be worse, but this Republican is bad enough. The impact of Bush’s immigration policy is catastrophic.
It is incomprehensible that this president should so clearly and resolutely understand and respond to the threat of foreign terrorism, but ignore and reject and ultimately be complicit in the threat of foreign invasion via illegal immigration.
Last week was a good example.
In a meeting in Waco, Texas, President Bush denounced the Minuteman Project and called its members “vigilantes.”
Which is a direct quote from prior statements of the Mexican government.
What is the Minuteman Project? A volunteer effort, through the month of April, to patrol a stretch of the Arizona border with Mexico. Regular Americans, most of them taking vacation from their jobs, will ride, walk or fly along the border. When they spot people crossing into the United States from Mexico, they will alert the Border Patrol.
They won’t stop the people. They won’t harass them. They won’t have any contact with them whatsoever. They will merely report their presence to the authorities. It’s like a Neighborhood Watch, except that volunteers will carry food and water in case they find injured illegals who have been overcome by the desert heat.
All these people are doing is watching and reporting.
And the Mexican president has attacked them for that. Sadly, so has the American president. The Administration has chosen to ignore our southern border, and it seems angered that the citizenry hasn’t.
The policy of the Mexican government is clearly to foster and encourage illegal immigration into the United States. Sadly, the policy of the American government seems to be exactly the same. Words may be different, but deeds aren’t.
And the daily degradation and ruin of the United States is the consequence. This pattern of illegal immigration is nothing other than an invasion of territory and a pillaging of wealth. America has become Mexico’s welfare system and Mexico’s dumping ground. The people Mexico is too backward to employ or care for are herded north to become somebody else’s problem and the foot soldiers in a cultural conquest.
They lower our wages, live off our welfare, weaken our society and send our money south.
They are a threat to national security and survival.
And George W. Bush is doing everything he can to encourage it. He showed that last week when he stood by the Mexican president and against the American people.
The people of the Minuteman Project – and the millions of other Americans who are alarmed by what is going on – are not vigilantes. And they are not the problem.
The president is.
And so is the silent Congress which likewise turns a blind or complicit eye to this crime against our laws.
I am a Republican. And I have voted for Republicans and worked for Republicans and donated to Republicans. The voters of America have given Republicans the power to lead and protect our nation.
And this is what we get.
With Republicans in charge of the Senate and the House and the presidency, we have the Mexicans in charge of the border.
I could not agree more. While terrorist attacks may or can cause random acts of violence and destruction the flood of illegals can destabilize the nation by the rapid change in values systems, language , customs and established political system and overwhelming the already fragile infrastructure.
The relegation of the black population to an ever lower minority standing is the equivalent of them being pushed from their achieved lower middle class back to lower/poverty class permanence and that is a social bomb whose fuse has been lit.
So. We are to wait until Hillary comes to? That's your fix?
You just might not happen to be another clueless Loser-Dem flailing away at the winning President and party that appears to have zero intelligent opposition except for "Overthrow" now are you?
The most obvious major problem is illegal immigration.
Do you dimwits have any substantive proposal to fix it? I mean other than fire the President?
Why are "conservative" Republicans lying about Bush's immigration reform?

This article is written by Mary Mostert. She is a blatant liar. Last summer she published an article with almost the same title defending Rep. Chris Cannon's (R-UT) disgusting Agricultural Jobs an Opportunity Act as "not an amnesty" never mind that it allowed illegals to transform from illegal status to legal status with no punishment if they had worked one hundred days in agriculture (and working one hour qualified as a full day). Chris Cannon was reelected and I believe was recently recognized by La Raza as their politician of the year.
Nobody should believe a word of Mary Mostert's ridiculous and painfully shallow propaganda.
My source is my memory. Your post cites widely differing estimates to conclude that I am wrong. Looks to me as if you can get statistics to say whatever you want. But no matter what the truth may be the conclusion doesn't change. Give me a break.
I don't know but they legalized 1,000,000 just before the second term election.

The President of the United States is not a traitor because he has taken a step toward dealing with a serious problem with which you disagree. A writer is not a blatant liar because an article differs from your opinion.
The fastest way to become a laughing stock of the internet is to start letting the bullies tromp over reasoned dialogue.

The ONLY "step" the President has taken in "dealing" with the Illegal Invasion/Open Border situation has been by rolling out the Red Carpet down himself.
The spectacle of Dubya Bush down getting on his d@mn knees for Fox in front of the entire world makes a "serious" situation all that much worse than it already is.

I see just fine thank you. Believing there is some vast, global, decades old conspiracy to destroy the United States is just as nutty as the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" the lefties always cry about.
The problem with some members of this forum is they're of the mindset that either you agree with their position 100% or it means you're supporting "open borders".

For some, the truth is whatever they want it to be.

The Cannon bill and its companion bill in the Senate, S1645, state that any alien benefiting from the new program "must establish" that he or she is "admissible to the United States under section 212 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1182)." That is the section of the immigration law that defines "inadmissible" aliens. It is about 82 pages long and one of the ways to become an "inadmissible" alien is to come into this country illegally.
Essentially she is saying the AgJobs Bill is not an amnesty because since the illegals came illegally they would not be eligible. But the whole point of the AgJobs Bill is for illegals to adjust their status and to give farmers a large supply of cheap legal (formerly illegal) labor. With the exception of Mary, nobody disputes that the AgJobs Bill is about adjusting status (many of us call this amnesty) for illegals. What Mary fails to say is that the "not illegal" requirement is specifically waived a few sentences later in the bill.
There are really only two possibilities. Mary could a)just simply be ignorant and mistaken or b)she could deliberately be trying to obfuscate the truth (lie). I personally exchanged several emails with her about this last spring so I know the truth has been brought to her attention. I also saw a debate in the Provo Herald (I think) right before the Cannon/Throckmorton primary where a prominent immigration reform person (either Bill Nelson or Mark Krikorian) also brought the rather obvious flaws in her reasoning to her attention.
The fact that she persists in spreading ideas that have been repeatedly demonstrated to be untruthful makes her a liar.
Further, if you read the article she tries to pretend that the AgJobs Bill is a joint effort between Cannon and Bush and that it is the legislative version of Bush's guestworker plan. This is patently false. The AgJobs Bill was written before Bush ever outlined his plan, no legislative version of Bush's plan has yet been written and AgJobs specifically provides a path to citizenship where as Bush has specifically excluded that as a possibility.
A second Mary Mostert lie.
