In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
glower \GLOW-er ("OW" as in "cow")\ verb
to look or stare with sullen annoyance or anger

Mariah crossed her arms and glowered at Jeff, making it perfectly clear that she'd had enough of his teasing.

Do words of uncertain origin make you scowl? If so, "glower" may put a frown on your face, because only part of its history can be validated. The well-established part of its story leads us to Scotland, where "glower" (or "glowren," to use the older Scottish form of the word) has been used since the late Middle Ages. Originally, the word meant simply "to look intently" or "to stare in amazement," but by the late 1700s, glowering stares were being associated with anger instead of astonishment. Beyond that, however, the history of the word is murky. The most we can say is that "glower" is a distant relative of Middle Low German "gluren," which means "to be overcast," and of Middle Dutch "gloeren," meaning "to leer."

Over on that thread a freeperette named missyme and another freeperette named nopardons got into a large argument, with some of the comments being deleted by the mods. It was very entertaining.
i am betting missyme was pulled over and may be in time out. she was by far the most egregious on there, i saw both posts of her's that were pulled and it was fairly outrageous. she was the aggressor and the foulmouthed one there.
i gotta tell you argh, i have very little respect for female freepers that post pix of themselves on threads/homepages on FR. it is unseemly and maybe even a little pathetic, as a ploy for attention.
I didn't see why she needed to blow up at nopardons in the first place, she should have made a joke out of the number of states thing and let it go. Well, it was all worth the price of admission.
i am guessing there has been a history between the two of them, and this was just the flaming dart that set the whole thing off. with the runaway bugeyed bride news all but done, it was a breath of fresh air to see female freepers brawling...
This is like when I was in HS - I had no idea at the assignations that were going on.
men posting pix on FR are generally to show off some item that they acquired a gun or car or at an event of some sort. the pix i am talking about clearly are of the trolling sort, and always posted by women....

actually, four are Commonwealths. But if you think I was getting in the middle of that........
LOL.........good move, just step back and watch the show, pass some popcorn and have a few laughs........it's hump day after all, what else is there to do but watch the plane over DC?
