While I am on the subject of health, I'll try this.
I compulsively count everything I do. I count the stairs, even though I already how many there are. I count the dishes when I put them into or take them out of the dishwasher.
Everything.
Any of you amateur or professional psychologists care to comment on this?
I add the numbers up on license plates. Can't stand it, but gotta do it...
I'm not sure why that is. Do you have any convents in Hanover?
I do this when I am under extra stress. Otherwise, I'm not aware of it.
I also have a mantra that I find myself repeating over and over in mind when I am under a great deal of stress.
I haven't checked since my last big break-up.
None of them would have me. I think the holy water boiled in my presence.
I know of a retired accountant who had the same problem. Using a combo of drugs and several therapy sessions (I know that sounds tedious), he feels MUCH better and rarely falls back. Good luck.
Sometimes I find I cheat to get an even number though. I have a tendecy to break up contractions when it turns out to be an odd number. I'm pathetic, I know. I cheat on my compulsion. There must be a name for it..counter/even/odd/cheater.

You know, according to some "experts" I have been talking with, odd numbers are supposed to be better than even numbers. With plants, paintings, and everything else.
