And now for tonights Dinklemeyer bonus:
This is my least favorite of the Dinklemeyers. Nevertheless, fairness dictates that I run it anyway.
This was the first real story I did, meaning that what happened in the first strip continued over into the next one.
The character of Stephanie was a hot girl whom secretly had a crush on Freddy, but he was completely clueless (although readers would tell me that she really looked more like an alien than hot). It wasnt a bad idea, but it just never went anywhere. She made one other appearance in a future strip, and that was it for her.
In this strip, a lot of people are confused by Freddys dialogue. What it is is that hes so shy and nervous when she tries to talk to him, he mumbles and babbles incoherently. Ou thee = you see.
Stephanie didnt work out, but the strip was still very young at this point. I was toying with ideas and introducing new characters. When you draw a regular cartoon series, its interesting to see how a whole world is created almost by itself. More regular characters will be introduced from here, and in my opinion, the rest of the strip only goes up and up in quality.
LOL! So much like Palpatine indeed. I like that analogy :) Dinklemeyer cartoon. That is exactly how shy I am and how I feel.
We always tend to blow that one opportunity that comes.
Sadly true. Happened to me once with of all people a lebanese girl. One of my deepest regrets.
Hello :)
This strip is actually loosely based on real life. I was sitting by myself at lunch and watching two of the hottest and most popular girls in the school. They were on the newspaper staff and were walking around asking students questions. I thought, "Man, I wish they would come over and talk to me." And as soon as I thought that, what do ya know? Here they came. They asked me why I was sitting by myself. I didn't know what to say. They asked me a question for the newspaper, I sort of mumbled a lame answer, then they thanked me and walked away.
Wow. Yeah I know what that is like.
I remembered the incident for a long time. Actually, I drew this cartoon about one year after it actually happened. The idea came to me.
Unfortunately, there really aren't many female regulars in the Dinklemeyer strips. There are girls who make appearances, but that's about it. Freddy has a Dad whom we will meet later in the strip. He has a Mom, but she never actually makes an appearance. We just hear about her.
Wow. I never knew that.
Well, the strip gets more developed in the future. At this point, it's still pretty young.
Very cool :)
BTW, what does your tag line mean?
Hebrew. It means shut the f*** up. Ahmadinejad is the name of the Iranian president. I would make it say "go to hell" but I do not know how to say that in Hebrew.
Ah. I recognized the Ahmadinejad part, but the rest of it was confusing.
