LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Paramount Pictures has severed its 14-year-old ties to Tom Cruise's production company because of his off-screen behaviour, the chairman of the studio's parent company said on Wednesday in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

The report signalled the end of one of the most lucrative production deals commanded by any A-list Hollywood star and followed other signs that Cruise's public stature had been damaged by his conduct during the past year.

Wonder if this was covered in the pre-nup?

Rita Cosby damn near had a stroke at the beginning of Scarborough's show, talking about this.

He is done.

And I fully expect him to act even weirder now, if that's at all possible.

Never quite got the Tom Cruise phenomenon.

He was OK in "Rainman" but then again, in that movie, he didn't have to act. He just had to be himself. A flaming a*hole.

You mean out of the spaceship that surrounds the outer rim of a black hole known as Hollywood ;-)

He was right on the money on his opinions of psychology and the witch doctors who practice it.

I'd rather be Mel Gibson than Tom Cruise right now.

lol! And he thought he was on a mojo roll! Poor thing, maybe he can start touring with the dixie chicks. I hear they're getting pretty desperate to sell those concert tickets.

It wasn't his off screen behavior, it was his slipping status as a moneymaker. Hollywood will support you no matter how freaky you act, as long as you're bringing home the bacon.

If that were the case then he would be fine. MI3 did quite well this summer.

He is done.

No, he's not done. All but two of the starring roles he's had in the past 14 years made over $100 mil.

And the two that didn't (Eyes Wide Shut, Magnolia) are better then all the others.

I'll admit I thought he was pretty good in that movie he played a JAG---"A Few Good Men"---I think was the title.

I didn't count Magnolia, since he was only a co-star in that. But I agree with your assessment, with one exception--Collateral.

People seem to think somehow Cruise has been kicked out of the movie business. He's going to to do just fine. I'm not crazy about him but think he's a decent actor. Collateral was my favorite of his movies.

Not when compared to his earnings in previous years. He had a longer shelf life than most, but eventually you get put out to pasture.
