Good luck, Taiwan. You'll need it.

President Bush should have the leaders of Taiwan on the phone today informing them that if China decides to move on them, they're on their own. Good luck, it was nice knowin' ya.

Before today I believed a majority of Americans had the intestinal fortitude to see the fight for a future free from Islamic fascism through to the end. I believed we had learned from the past that we won't lose on the battlefield, we'll only lose the fight at home and we, enough of us anyway, surely won't let that happen again.

That was utterly pollyanish and wishful thinking. Our inevitable redeployment(i.e.retreat) from Iraq will send shockwaves around the world. The Muzzies will be dancing in the streets(umm, they already are) and congratulating Osama for his prescience in concluding that America has no stomach for a long fight and our allies or potential ones will always know that America is a reliable partner only if the work is quick and painless.

Ironically, I just finished reading Flags of Our Fathers which recounts the lives and actions of the six Americans who raised the flag on Mt. Suribachi and their brethern Marines who weathered the toughest 30 days of fighting in modern American warfare---7,000 dead and 26,000 casualties. And that came at the end of 4 years that saw 300,000 deaths and almost 700,000 wounded. Yet those Americans, that America, took body blow after body blow, kept getting off the mat and defeated not one but two existential threats to our way of life.

As I have posted before, I feared that that America is merely a distant memory and doesn't exist anymore--at least in sufficient quantity to make a difference. That fear was played out last night in umambiguous terms. We just gave the Jihadists the green light to come after us at their leisure. We'll bluster, threaten and bellow and talk a good game but when the going gets tough or long, we'll fold our tents and go home.

I fear for my children and their children today.

I fear for my country.

Let's just all kill ourselves so we don't have to worry about it.

The negativity on this forum is sickening.

Unless the conservatives present the new American, unafraid firebrand, unapologetic, bold guy, the people who have depended on us are toast. Live with it , it is reality.

Do you really think the Olympics mean that much to China when it comes to Taiwan? I don't. Look for a surprise attack before the Olympics if one is to come from China.

The worst of it is that the Dixie Tricks are doing a concert later this week in Portland and I can just picture the bleached blond blimpo bimbo Natalie braying about how good this will be for the world blah, blah, blah.

I would rather be forced to watch a solid month, 24 hrs a day of EHarmony.com commercials than listen to the fat pig, Maines warble one song. Enjoy the show.

I dunno. I almost think that it would take a Democrat leading America before half of the nitwits that I know would support defending America. It's sad but true. I don't know where this stupid "I'll vote for anybody, as long as they are a Democrat" mentality comes from, but it is rampant. If the right Democrat came along (Zell Miller type), this kind of people would be behind him "tooth and nail" in a fight. It's strange, but true. Don't despair.

And his replacement, who presumably does understand that she has a boss, tells the palis that they have suffered under occupation long enough. And seems to think that the palis really want to peacefully coexist with Israel. Go figure....

Colin was fired, remember? He just couldn't understand he had a boss.

You are correct about the negativity... ironic that it is the dims themselves that are the negative here.

We were just in a bar brawl (last night) and we lost. You pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and break a friggin' beer bottle over the head of the guy you fought with. ;-)

You guys all sound like the Dems did 2 years ago: "The sky is falling and this isn't America anymore". What a bunch of chicken littles.

I say that all those little countries that have relied on us for the last 60 years have taken us for suckers and should defend themselves. Are you worried about Japan and S. Korea? They could develop and deploy a complete nuclear deterrent in 4 years or less. Ditto Taiwan.

They have no need to when Uncle Sucker will do it for them. How about we think of ourselves first from now on. As for the Dems, they wouldn't have a prayer if our guys weren't such losers. Let's fix our own house and then watch theirs fall apart. I'm talking real conservatism here. We haven't seen it yet. Not in 1980, or 1994, and definitely not in 2000.

Let's start now.

One other thing. If you're bummed out now think how you'll feel in 2008. Need I elaborate?

By the way, I kind of have my doubts that China really wants to attack Taiwan. With good reason: China is growing so fast economically by themselves that it would be economic suicide to attack Taiwan. My stepdad visited Guangzhou (Canton) last year and he told me the city is just about as modern as Hong Kong now, a sign that China doesn't need Taiwan's technical expertise anymore.

We just moved one step towards the dark ages today. How bad will it have to be before we take these jihadists seriously?

Not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if English is superseded by Arabic.

So go somewhere else and party about "teaching the pubbies a lesson". Do you think that the WOT was a game? a Hollywood movie? Yes Virginia these monsters are for real, and now that they have forced us out of Iraq, they won't stop.

Amen. The fact is that the Chicoms lack the hardware to
launch an amphib assault on Taiwan. Taiwan's military is superior in technology and training. The Chicom's military upgrade has more to do with the N. Koreans, Russia, India and the Muslims in Iran and the Stans. The Chicom economy needs US dollars. China fears 2 things
chaos and a militarized Japan. If they attack Taiwan they get both.

Well said.

Yesterday, a majority of the electorate voted to stab the troops in the back.

And they did so for the second time in a single generation.

My new tagline says it all.
