The more I thought about it, the more it was a brilliant way to go out for David Chase.

That and the multiple places in the show where you were waiting for someone to get whacked. Chase level set the tension real high last week with Bobby and Silvio getting capped, and he gave you plenty of spots where you were just waiting for something to happen.

My wife and some of her friends hated the ending, but, in retrospect, I think it was the best (maybe the only) way to do it. The only point that got me was that there was no acknowledgment by Tony and his gang that Phil took one in the head (and one on the head :D).

I agree: what a let down.

For as big a show as this was, engaging, enveloping, interesting, the ending was abrupt and almost an insult.

What’s with Meadow trying to park a car? Whats with going to a burger joint instead of Arties?

Yeah I understand artsey fartsey endings but this wasn’t it. It was clumsey and not well done at all. It was a far cry from the brilliance of this series through the years.

I made this post on another Sopranos thread here on FR earlier, and the very next post right after mine started with the person saying "Never saw a single episode..." Lol. I love it when a following post totally proves my point! Couldn't have timed it any better.

Oh, and it didn’t take long for the people on FR who have never watched the show, never liked the show, or people who don’t own a tv set to come on here, and post about how much they hate the show, or how superior they are to us plebes who watch tv. We get it. You have never liked the show, or you are far greater humans for never watching the show, or walk on water for not owning a television set. We get it. Now just leave us people alone who love this show, and want to praise or criticize the series and its finale. Thank you.

David Chase whacked the audience. We never saw it coming- our time as observers is done. Their life is going on, whether that means behind jail or with some of them dead. We’re done. No neat closure for us.

Why were they eating greasy onion rings and drinking Cokes in a diner like that anyway? The Sopranos were known for their love of fine, authentic Italian cuisine

Another interesting interp: The family was placed in the Witness Protection Program.

No neat closure for us.

Chase once said that about the show when asked if some issues might be resolved from a previous season. [such as] Would Dr. Melfi's rapist get his, or the "interior decorator that killed 17 Czechoslovakians" what happened to him? Chase said, not everything in life gets resolved and sometimes we just don't know how things turnout.

What I hate on these threads are the people that feel the need to tell people that they don't own a tv or have not watched tv in years. Thats is not what the thread is for.

I heard the last episode was lame.

Why do people who don’t even watch television always post on TV threads and brag about how they don’t watch television?

I feel the same way. It happens on every single tv show thread. Ridiculous.

they are confusing our dislike of the main stream media with dislike for good tv.

not if there was a silencer you wouldn’t. you might here something and then your brains would be painted all over the wall. Though, Bobby did see it coming.

Also, when Tony first entered the diner he had on a leather jacket, and I thought a solid grey shirt. But sitting down he had on a different shirt.

I didn't notice that, but it may have been a goof. The episode was filmed over along period. Throughout hair colors and lengths changed...the season didn't seem constant either.

Can you please tell me if it was it during this current season that Bobby said that “everything just goes black”? I think that is absolutely THE most important line, in regard to how it all ended...but I wonder why no one is talking about that statement. Maybe they didn’t catch the line? (I don’t have HBO so haven’t seen this season yet.)

My “take” is the same as some of the posters have written. I believe that someone shot Tony and, from his viewpoint everything suddenly cut to black, so that’s what the viewers saw. I think it was important that it didn’t fade -it happened abruptly.

Also, any input as to why that particular song was used?

I think because some will win, some will lose, and some are borfn to play the blues. The movie never ends, it just goes on and on my friend.
