PHOENIX — Officers responding to a report of an exorcism on a young girl found her grandfather choking her and used stun guns to subdue the man, who later died, authorities said Sunday.
The 3-year-old girl and her mother, who was also in the room during the struggle between 49-year-old Ronald Marquez and officers, were hospitalized, police said. Their condition was unavailable.
The relative who called police said an exorcism had also been attempted Thursday.
"The purpose was to release demons from this very young child," Sgt. Joel Tranter said.
Officers arrived at the house Saturday and entered when they heard screaming coming from a bedroom, Tranter said.
A bed had been pushed up against the door; the officers pushed it open a few inches and saw Marquez choking his bloodied granddaughter, who was crying in pain and gasping, Tranter said.

Yes, I figured that the reporter was trying to say, “The Marquez’s were unavailable for comment.” It was just a weird, non sequitur way to say it.

I’ve read that the rite of exorcism, in some form, existed prior to the formation of the Catholic Church. Evidently that ritual was modified and integrated into the church.

That’s a far cry from choking a little three year old nearly to death with the mother naked and covered in blood. This other girl was 18 years old and it didn’t say they were “Protestant”. You might want to read your own link. Exorcism is a long standing Catholic maneuver.

You may also want to dust off your Bible and read about anointing oil and when it is appropriate.

I’ve always been curious ... where is that in the Bible? Where are the instructions that you priests use in the Bible? Christ did it but He didn’t do it the say way Catholics do ... .

Actually I am far from Catholic ....
and you may want to read the article and posts further ... they were Physically restraining the daughter (to the point where her clothes were torn and bruising was evident) ... the pastor quoted in the article (and the church they attend) is a Pentacostal (Protestant) ... this father would also drag his naked teen daughter out of the shower.. and force her to confess her ‘sins’ in graphic detail after she returned from dates ....
