FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Do you have any of those hay bale bags like BladeRider and I had when we went out to Becky’s? Those are pretty handy when you just need to carry a bale or two and don’t want to have a hay mess all over the place. It keeps them dry too unless it’s just pouring down.

No we don’t. I have just tarped it, but those would be better. And nice if you want to carry a bale in the tack room of the horse trailer!

I like the one BladeRider had better than mine. Hers had handles, mine just had loops and I had to run a lead rope through them to make my own handles. Mine came from National Bridle and I think it cost around $25. I think she said she got hers from Country Supply (Horse.com) for $19.99. I’ve been thinking about ordering another one the next time I order from them.

My older daughter uses one of those — I’ve watched her but it looks too complicated (for me..) but your horse looks wonderful in it. :-)

Good Evening Ladies.

Frog, I'm glad that you made it through the tornadoes OK. I was thinking about you.

Hair, I took a look at the pictures on the horse forum, and that bridle looks really nice on Bay.

Sorry I haven't been on much. Work has kept me busy... I'm there at least 10 hours a day. I'm feeling the burnout and stress and that in turn is aggravating some health issues that I have. Blech. I've been trying to combat it by going to bed early to get some extra sleep, and it seems to help somewhat. I was looking forward to getting to the barn this weekend, but we're supposed to get hammered with snow.

Hope your snow isn’t too much of a hammering.

We have a high wind advisory for tonight... getting a little prepared but trying not to be nervous till I need to be.

Your place is gorgeous!!! What a beautiful set up and the barn is lovely!! Nice shade for the pasture areas.......an equine paradise!! I love the looks of your Cape Cod - have always loved the style!

We have a buyer for our house here in IL - whoo-hoo!! Will be heading south (just in time, 8-12 inches today in Chicago-blecchhh)in mid-late March.

Estrogen, you said your "new house/new barn" workload has let up a bit, well I'm here to tell you I'm picking up where you left off - hahaha - any pointers????

You’ll be ok. I’ll be up late if you want company though.

Glad you are ok. Have you seen those plastic shelters. They look like a big septic tank but there is a place for 2 or more (depending on how much you want to spend) You just dig a hole.

Well, I had my first major fall off a horse in a long time today. And I can tell that I’m not 35 anymore ... But I got right back on, which is a major improvement for me.

Good evening. I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with so much stress at work - it sounded like a great job to begin with. Hope things work out there - also hope you don’t get a major snow storm.

Bummer but I’m glad you were able to get back on. And that you aren’t hurt.

Good to see you on here. I found out I can’t write in a candidate on our election system. I can only vote none of the above :) so NONEOF THEABOVE is my new choice.
