Bud shod Trouble the day after we got him home. He didn’t have any shoes on the back and his front was long. He had asked before if I could get ACE because he used it sometimes on “problem” horses to be able to shoe them. I had that bottle we got from JB for Ginger that it didn’t phase, so I offered him some. I paid $25 for it and he said JB was gonna charge him $40 so he didn’t buy any. I put half my bottle in his. Then before he left Hal gave him a gallon bag of frozen blackberries out of the freezer because of course he told him about them and he “sure would like to have some jelly, cobbler”, just like all the other 6 people he gave a gallon. They are $15-20 a gallon picked. I thought surely he wouldn’t charge us as much to shoe Trouble, but he charged the same as always. Now, today the minimum LT charges is $55 for a regular job and he is gonna have to do a “special” job, since he is winging himself.

A friend we ride with (3rd from the right on the Night ride picture in front of the chicken houses) just sold a half Rocky Mountain that was the chocolate palamino color and got $3750 for him. He was a pretty gelding he had raised and minded well and was bigger that the Aunt to him that he is on in the picture. COLOR and manners sell 'cause we are in an area that is selling good blooded yearlings for $20 - $80 at auctions and people are turning them loose on the roads and uip in the forest.

I'd like to see pictures, too. The QH foal my Gray mare had the end of March had a sorrell baby, but he is turning gray. That's his daddy's color, too, but he was as red as Alabama red dirt.

So you gave Bud (your uncle) $25 worth of ACE, plus $20 worth of blackberies and he still charged you $40 to shoe your horse. :-/ That’d be the last blackberries he ever got from me!

My baby, the same as above, Freckles, got kicked in the rump by one of the big horses. He has a pone the size of a C cup boob on his butt. I stuck an 18 ga needle in it and it looked like a cup of red/clear fluid drained out 2 days ago,but it is as full as ever and not absorbing. It was looser, but it looks like it filled back up. What should I do?

Yeah, or ACE. That's what I thought.

Anyway Mother and I put up 20 pints of blackberry jelly and jam and 6 pints of plum jelly yesterday. My feet were tired and she had to be worn out. She stirred and dipped and cut up all the plums. We ran out of plums and had to send Hal to get more while we went to WM and got more surejell. It's good. It better be.

I don’t know that there’s anything you CAN do. It’s just a bad bruise and it’s just going to take time to heal. Some hot compresses might help, but I can just see you standing out there trying to hold them on a horse’s butt. I can’t believe he actually let you stick a needle in it without kicking your lights out!

He didn’t do anything. I just patted him and then stuck it in like a pat. I was petting him and Hal was squeezing is little butt cheek to get it to come out faster. He’s walk around a little, but that’s all. I just don’t want it to turn into one of those hard knots I’ve seen from being kicked that never go away.

I’ve never seen one that never went away. That would be bad.

My old gelding, Tennessee, ran into something when he was younger and got a big jiggly goose-egg like that right in the middle of his chest one time. It stayed like that for a day or two, then it slid down and hung between his front legs until it reabsorbed. It was weird looking.

No, I haven’t listed them anywhere. Mostly because prices have gotten so bad for horses here too. I doubt I’ll sell them now anyway. I”m hoping Kristy will really start riding him and hauling him places. I think right now that is my best chance of selling Harley anyway, someone seeing him really work.

Everything around here has stopped moving. I’ve gotten a few inquires on Larry’s bike, but no one wants to pay anything for it, and I’m not just giving it away. Everything I want to sell is probably considered a luxury item, the vet, bike, horses...no one’s buying stuff like that:\

Well, at least the bike should have some appeal for fuel economy!

I’m done mowin’ for today... got quite a bit more done, but the sun’s out now and I’m hot. I could finish it in another good day.

Tomorrow my dad’s coming down in the morning, wants to buy us a small chest freezer to go along with the Costco membership he got us for Christmas. It would be nice to be able to stock up a bit on frozen stuff. We just have the one over the fridge... can’t even buy a turkey.

What I’d really like of yours, besides Rocky, is that motorhome. It’s really nice. I would like to have something just like it in the pasture to sit in for our wind storms instead of camping in the truck! Not to mention traveling in it. :~)

How much do you have it listed for? I don’t even know what to expect to pay for one in good condition.

...YouTube - The Exploding Whale...

"All the bystanders were covered in tiny bits of exploded dead whale..." Now THAT was funny! Stinky, but funny! I'd've probably just burned those clothes.

I was asking $3000 for it, but have just about decided to keep it myself. It would be fun to take the boys to the lake occasionally, and a friend of mine who lives by a lake said I could just park it on her property. That would save a lot on fuel.

If someone came along and wanted to buy it I’d probably go ahead and sell it tho. Everything works on it, but it does have a short somewhere in it that drains the battery when it is just sitting, so the battery has to be taken out when it’s going to sit. I’ve learned that’s a pretty common thing with RV’s tho. I haven’t advertised any of the stuff I have for sell. I need to do that I guess.

The bike would be a good for fuel economy, the thing is people buying bikes for fuel economy are buying less expensive bikes. I’m not selling the one I have for less then $8000, smaller less fancy bikes for fuel economy can be bought for a whole lot cheaper. Larry’s friend that has taken the bike to help me sell it says it’s worth even more then I’m asking, but it’s still a lot of money for people wanting to save money. So...I’m kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place with the stuff I have to sell. Not a lot of people looking for fancy bikes, and Vets right now unless you just want to give them away, which I’m not.

I couldn’t log on to the HF yesterday either.

Yeah, I’m seeing lots of Jet Skis, big trucks (like mine), motorcycles, boats, tractors, and all kinds of expensive, non-essential toys like that sitting in people’s yards for sale.

They’re closing down the Dodge assembly plant in Missouri that makes the big Ram pickups, and the Toyota plant over in Huntsville, AL that makes the motors for the Tundra pick-up has stopped production for at least 3 months. It’s getting pretty darned bad!

Setting up the RV on the lake sounds like fun! Lots of people do that around here on the river. Apparently you can rent a camper spot on a long term basis at the state and local parks and some people just leave them there for the summer.
