Yeah, but I don’t think there’s a month in the year that there isn’t a documented tornado in the area at some point. So there’s really NO time when you can just completely forget about the weather. It definitely pays to have a weather radio and keep the batteries in it charged. That’s what woke us up last night. Some people in the path of the storm said the same thing and that they had literally minutes to grab up the essentials and get in the storm shelter before their house got blown away.

We don’t even have a shelter anywhere close. My in-laws who live a couple of miles away have a basement and sometimes if it looks bad enough we’ll take the cats and drive down there, but that’s only if you have enough warning. Most of the time I just sit tight and hope it goes around. So far I’ve been lucky. TheNewHouse (to be built when pigs fly) will definitely have a basement or a shelter of some sort.

Glad you are ok. Have you seen those plastic shelters. They look like a big septic tank but there is a place for 2 or more (depending on how much you want to spend) You just dig a hole.
