Interesting case to read about. The 911 tapes of Howie’s call disappeared you know. Anna would later say she was the one that called 911 IIRC.

Believe it or not, this was the #2 lead story on our local morning TV news today, for some odd reason - with lots and lots of clips of ANS and HKS through the years. (None of *Hollywood Mark,* however.)

The District Attorney’s Office created the Courageous Citizen Award in 1985 to commend those individuals who have acted at considerable personal risk to help a victim of crime, assist in the capture of a suspect, or testify in the face of extraordinary pressures.
The ceremony was held at the Pasadena Hilton, International Room, 168 S. Robles Ave. The awards were presented to recipients nominated by deputy district attorneys.

When Rene, 59, came to the aid of neighbor - actress Anna Nicole Smith - after an ex-boyfriend arrived at her apartment and claimed to have a gun, he was severely beaten. The assailant had heaved a large cinder block over his head and threatened to kill him when Rene informed him that if he did so he would go to prison for the rest of his life. The suspect put down the cinder block and fled. The defendant, Mark Hatten, was tried and convicted for assault and making criminal threats. ...”

Mark Hatten may have a lot of weird personality traits, but one thing for sure - he is not *SLICK*! There’s a certain bumbling quality about him. Not sharp enough to make up *elaborate* lies. Was he unaware of Anna’s sexual strangeness? Hatten lived in ANS’ house that included Kimmie -was HOwie able to drug him into stupidity - or- was Hatten just blinded by his lust for Anna?
I believe his account of the drugging, the ice-bath and the set-up, very familiar scenarios. Also wonder how much dirty dealing, the *respected personal attorney* managed behind the scenes of Hatten’s trial. The 911 tape of HOwie’s call - was LOST????? How special!

The _Los Angeles Times_ reported Feb. 24 that a panel of the California 2nd District Court of Appeal had voted 2-1 on Feb. 23 to remove Superior Court Judge Kathryne Ann Stoltz from determining whether Robert Rosenkrantz should be paroled. Rosenkrantz was convicted murdering Steven Redman, who had outed Rosenkrantz to his family and then apparently provoked the distraught Rosenkrantz. Rosenkrantz has been in prison for 16 years of a 17-to-life sentence, and Governor Gray Davis has refused to parol him. Judge Stoltz was challenged by the
state as not impartial in the case due to her prior rulings.

Hatten is not slick that is for sure. Bumbling punk with the mentality of a teen ager hot shot. Really a creep imo but then who isn’t in Anna’s life? She could pick the morons that is for sure.

What he got is set up and railroaded. Happens all the time. What HKS’s long arm is.. the only explanation I can come up with at this point is Jewish Mafia. There is no way that little twit could handle all this, have so many attorneys available day and night without some Mafia connection imo.

Mace - That is what Hatten said in his filing. We will have to wait and see what the police report shows. He was aquitted of the stalking but I DO remember in one of the ET interviews HKS and ANS were saying he was a stalker! If he gets his hands on that interview he might have a case. I noticed Stern has since dropped that mis statement since the filing. lol

On March 15, 2006, Smith appeared in court with her attorney, Deputy Public Defender Lisa Strassner, and stated, “I would like Ms. Strassner to step down. [¶] Today is my fifth court date. I’ve had four different attorneys. Nobody is interested in my life. [¶] She—she just had the nerve to come out and tell me she just ended a trial and she’s starting another one. [¶] She won’t look at me in my face. She’s talking through glass. [¶] I would like to go pro per.” Ms. Strassner responded, “[t]his is a Marsden.”2 After the prosecutor left the courtroom, Smith began speaking rapidly, and the court had to tell her to slow down. Smith complained that her attorney was not prepared to proceed with the trial, and believed she had misrepresented to her that the delay was necessary to obtain a copy of the video surveillance tape of the incident. She also complained that counsel had refused to give her a copy of the police report and the preliminary hearing transcript, and stated, “I don’t feel like—I’m a very spiritual woman. And I feel very—I don’t get a good feeling from her at all. I don’t feel like my freedom is at all important to her. [¶] She tells me today, she has just ended a trial, and she’s beginning another one. My life is just as important as that.” She added: “This is my life. This is my fourth attorney. I asked her when I came here—when we came February 14th, I looked her in the eyes, and I said, ‘Please, I need to know you’re for me.’ [¶] I don’t get that feeling. I don’t feel comfortable with her.” The court asked Smith if there was anything else she wanted to say, and she responded, “That I would like to go pro per.”
Well, you gave me a good laugh this morning. Just think if that happened and you were in the Inquirer, we’d be talking about you instead of Anna Nicole. You didn’t mislead. I didn’t know when you had the stroke but was sorry that you had one, no matter when it happened. That can be a scary time. My mother had a stroke and didn’t even know it about 10 years ago. I took her to a specialist and they did some type of video scan on her and said she had had a stroke about a year earlier. I can see we have alot in common; hysterectomy, difficult (sometimes), loves ones, and Banana Cream pie. (If you keep mentioning sweets I’m going to have to go to the store).
Sorry I misinterpreted. Guess I’m a little slow catching on because I don’t watch Saturday Night Live. It used to be a big thing around the house when the youngest girl would bring a group of friends home to watch it. I think it was a way for her to extend her curfew!
