Tracking the next big Mideast quake [VIDEO]

Geologist Dr. Shmuel Marco is combing through ancient manuscripts... for clues to the next big earthquake in the Middle East... Marco, who is on the faculty of Tel Aviv University's Department of Geophysics and Planetary Sciences, ...has delved into hundreds of ancient manuscripts, many of which were written by monks and clergy - both Christian and Muslim - and with their help has determined that a series of major earthquakes hit the Jordan Valley in the past 2,000 years, specifically in the years 31 B.C.E., 363 C.E., 749 C.E., and 1033 C.E... In one manuscript, Theophanes noted, 'A great earthquake in Palestine, by the Jordan and in all of Syria on 18 January in the 4th hour. Numberless multitudes perished, churches and monasteries collapsed especially in the desert of the Holy City.' Even the Bible contains clues: A verse in the book of Zachariah describes two instances of earthquakes, one of which split apart the Mount of Olives... In addition to historical research, Marco also conducts research in the fields of archaeology and geology. In geology, Marco focuses on lake sediments, which he explains are the mud that settles at the bottom of bodies of water... Such study, he explains, is "a geological source of information that goes back to 70,000 years, much older than history or archaeology." In his archaeological research, Marco investigates sites that hold clues to past earthquakes. One such site is Tel Megiddo, the ruins of a 5,000 year-old city that rests on the Carmel Fault. While it's difficult to distinguish earthquake damage from the wear and tear of centuries, in at least one instance there is definite evidence in Megiddo of an earthquake, in the ruins of a monumental temple.

There was another big one - the Lord parted the Red Sea then and might do it again--the question is where? the earth is an inanimate object after all.

Still future.

Where is the bridge shown in the video located?

It *was* in the United States, somewhere in the east, if memory serves (it sometimes doesn't). That footage has been shown in snips or entire many times since the, hmm, late 40s or early 50s, when the event shown occurred. A steady wind (common in the area) got the bridge vibrating at its natural frequency, and it got more and more like a guitar string until it just fell to pieces. It seems to me in the final seconds there's a guy running toward the camera trying (successfully) to get back to the land. :') He was trying to get to a car that had been abandoned earlier that day. Oh, okay, here it is, I had the location and date wrong:

Thanks for the info. I went to You Tube and typed in “tacoma narrow suspension bridge” and got the full footage. Holy cow, I’ve never seen anything like that!

Being close to AARP age, I got to see snips of the footage on “You Asked for It” or “Ripley’s” (I forget which, perhaps both).
