Here’s one reason why they think the man in Jacob’s chair was Jack’s dad:

There’s some good stuff at the link you provided. Some stuff I didn’t consider before.

I think each of the 4 new helicopter people were sent to the island to keep them silent, not to rescue anyone or to achieve some objective. I think they’re stuck there now.

- The physicist was seen (unexplainedly) crying over the “found” airplane.

- The ghost-hunter went to a house where there was, what looked like, a picture of Yemi or Ecko. And talked to them.

- The pilot knew that the pilot on the bottom of the ocean was not who it was supposed to be.

- The archeologist knew where a Dharma collar would be found.

Lost would be the perfect show if they only put Jonny Lee Miller ON the show, instead of after it.

What is the normal and logical explanation for the polar bear on the tropical island? I must’ve missed that.

somebody in the writer’s room is a C.S. Lewis fan..or else it was a subliminal promo for the upcoming Prince Caspian.

The woman who paruchuted in with the other 3 in last night’s episode was described by Ben as being “Charlotte Staples Lewis”

C.S. Lewis’s name is Clive Staples Lewis - but everyone called him “Jack”.

I was so excited to pick up on that one! (being a C.S. Lewis fan myself) :)

” Why would Dan be crying when he saw the new reports of the plane’s discovery? “

Yeah..that Dan is one odd bird isn’t he?

Didn’t they pick him because he is a physicist?

He certainly wasn’t very good at lying to Kate and Jack.

Maybe he’s supposed to be one of those people who are so intelligent they border insane?

The imaginary airplanes and rain showers would add a little something - something to the show. Fit right in with the black smoke and polar bears. ;-)

The LOST Report

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on Confirmed Dead

Welcome to the review of Confirmed Dead. The first episode featuring a cow on the island. Brothers and sisters, I have been clueless as to what is going on before, but never so much as in this episode.

TITLE
Has to do with the opening sequence when the rover finds a plane at the bottom of the ocean purported to be flight 815. Hint - it is not!

OUT OF AFRICA
We have polar bears in Tunisia Africa and with a DHARMA logo no doubt. The logo has a hydra on it. Remember that hydra is the name of the place where THE OTHERS kept Jack. What does this mean? Well, remember that the plane with the brother of Eko on it was also from Africa, and they never did explain how a little plane like that got all the way out to an island in the pacific. Again we see an African connection with the island here in this episode. Although that plane was from Nigeria. I thought we were finally going to see an explanation for this when I saw the polar bear dig. Alas no, only more questions. It may be that DHARMA was in Africa as well as the island, or it may be that a plane carrying the polar bear threw it out for some reason. Too much weight perhaps? We saw that the helicopter also threw out stuff to lose weight. Whatever the connection is just bet that there is a connection between the plane and that bear. Just wait. Notice when Charlotte reads the French newspaper about the finding of flight 815 she does not believe it. She has also read the report in papers in other languages. Why does she think the finding is not true? Since she does not seem surprised at the polar bear find she may be associated with DHARMA some how.

I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO LOSE A FEW POUNDS. THROW OUT THE GAS MASK WILL YOU?
Did you notice that stuff that was thrown out of the helicopter? Did you see the haz mat suits and gas masks? Why would they bring that? A couple of references we have seen are: The gas mask Kelvin used when he lied about the quarantine to keep Desmond in the hatch, the gas mask Ben wore when he used nerve gas to exterminate the DHARMA initiative, and honorable mention - we never found out what disease or plague infected the crew of Danielle. You might need gas mask protection for that. Were the newcomers aware of the nerve gas Ben used on DHARMA and came for revenge? Were they aware of the plague of Danielle and brought masks for that? I think it more likely that they came to get revenge on Ben. They know about the genocide. Notice how Miles is very upset when asking Juliet where Ben is. I do not think they want Ben to have a meal with him as Kate did on the beach. The freighter people came armed and wearing bullet proof vests. It could be that Abbadon is part of DHARMA and is working for Alvar Hanso. One wrinkle though. If DHARMA knows everybody on the island has been gassed, then why are they still sending supplies there? Easily explained. The supplies were for the people in the hatch who did not get gassed, and also they may only have very recently found out about the gassing since the island is isolated and nearly impossible to find. Ben says that the freighter people are bad because they are attacking the island, but so far it looks like they are only there to get him. Is attacking Ben the same as attacking the island or will the freighter people also do more than just get Ben?

WHAT CABIN?
Hurley tries to deny knowing about the mysterious cabin he saw when he is in front of Locke. Hurley must not have mentioned the cabin to Locke when he had his fireside chat with him. This shows that Hurley may share the special connection to Jacob that Locke has although Locke never actually saw Jacob. But Hurley did see two people in the cabin. Jacob? Ben was not pleased that Locke heard Jacob speak. I think that is why he shot Locke. How will Ben react now that he knows that not only Locke but also Hurely has a connection to Jacob. His reign as the only guy who talks to Jacob is at an end. Is the island actually Jacob?

GHOSTHUNTERS
Miles appears to be some kind of ghostbuster and even talks to the ghost of a man who was murdered. How did he know about the stash in the room? He knew about it he just did not know it was behind the wall. Did the ghost tell him? Is this like the ghost of Charlie that Hurley saw(or will see) at the mental institution? If so then this may tie in with Jack seeing his father on the island somehow. After all, he is dead right? right? Notice when Miles leaves the room there is a picture of a balloon on the door that looks a lot like the balloon that carried Henry Gale to the island.

MISTER Abbadon GOES TO WASHINGTON OR SOMEPLACE
So mister Abbadon was a real man and not a figment of the imagination of Hurley as we saw last week. When Mister Abbadon tells Naomi that there were no survivors of flight 815. Is he saying this because he knows it or because he proclaims it. I think he means he knows that either there are or could be survivors. He obviously knows that plane under the ocean is not the real plane. Naomi knows it too. That is why she asks him what to do if she meets survivors of flight 815. She would not have asked that if she thought they were all dead. One gets the feeling then of conspiracy. Mister Abbadon and company could have arranged for the rover to find a fake plane down there and even added bodies of their own. With bodies badly decayed who is going to argue? They figured they probably would not bring the bodies up. Another possibility is that the whole rover film was created on a computer, and then the bad guys went through the trouble of sending a team out with the footage who would then come back and claimed to have filmed the footage. Since the plane is supposedly at the bottom of the ocean it would be kind of hard for others to verify. They could claim they lost the position of the plane if anybody asked to check on it or make up any story they wanted.

SINK THE OCEANIC!
For the first time since hearing that flight 815 was at the bottom of the ocean we have at least some outside evidence that this is not the case since Frank Lapidus who was supposed to pilot the plane notices that the dead man underwater is not the actual pilot Seth Norris (played by Greg Grunberg) because he is not wearing his wedding ring. His pleas to the NTSB were obviously ignored since the world did indeed end up believing the lie that flight 815 was under the ocean with all hands. Later of course the world will hear of at least six survivors.

LIGHT SCATTER
Faraday makes the comment that the light on the island does not scatter right. Light is an electromagnetic wave and we know DHARMA did electromagnetic experiments there, ergo the hatch. The atmosphere does scatter light and this is why the sky is blue. It is called Rayleigh Scattering. Notice when the hatch blew up (or imploded) the sky changed to a purple color. Does the atmosphere around the island still retain some strange light scattering abilities?

CONNECTIONS
Notice that each one of the freighter people has a connection to flight 815. Charlotte refused to believe the newspaper report on 815. Frank Lapidus was supposed to pilot flight 815. Miles listened to the news on the radio about flight 815 when he showed up for the ghostbusting job. Faraday cries for no reason when he sees the plane footage.

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
Why does the physicist Daniel Faraday cry when he sees the plane underwater?
How did a DHARMA polar bear get to Africa?
What is the deal with an Oceanic plane being at the bottom of the ocean?
Why did Matthew choose these unlikely people to be part of the team to go in after Ben? (It may have something to do with the connection each one has to flight 815)
Is Locke going to the cabin to get orders from Jacob? Did Walt tell him to do that?
When Miles looks at the body of Naomi, how does he know Naomi died the way Kate said?
Since when are there cows on the island?
Who is the spy Ben has on the freighter? The answer may shock you. Can you say Michael?
What is George Minkowski doing that is so important that he cannot talk to Miles? (Look for this answer in a later episode when we see the backstory of what has happened on the freighter)
How did Miles get that picture of Ben? It looks like Ben is off the island when it was taken. Perhaps Ben was in an airport security line. How often does Ben leave the island?

WILD TANGENT
The country of Tunisia was the home of Carthage the great enemy of the Roman Empire. They were finally defeated after three wars and their country ceased to exist.

Executive Producer Damon Lindelof Says: "Indeed, it would appear that we are in the endgame of the strike. Personally, I couldn't be more psyched to be part of this union. Like any negotiation, some parts suck and some parts surpassed my wildest expectations for what we could accomplish, but most of all I'm left with a feeling of pride.

"As for Lost (pending the actual lifting of the strike, which we vote for on Tuesday), a game plan should begin to manifest by the end of the week. All I can say is that Carlton and I and the rest of the writers have every intention of making sure you guys get more episodes this season beyond the eight already completed. How many and how they will be aired is a conversation we'll be having with our bosses, but as soon as we've got a plan, we'll tell the fans first."

What We're Hearing: Lost's actors are on standby, and the show is expected to produce more episodes this season. Fingers crossed! The bigger question is who'll keep the golden Thursday at 9 p.m. time slot once those Seattle Grace docs also return...How 'bout we put Sawyer and McDreamy in a cage and let 'em duke it out? ('Cause we know who'd win...)

“How ‘bout we put Sawyer and McDreamy in a cage and let ‘em duke it out? (’Cause we know who’d win...) “

Grey’s Anatomy is all right..but I’m not upset when I miss episodes, and I get a little tired of the spoiled self centeredness of the characters.
I’m REALLY tired of Meredith’s dark and twisty soul.

Put those show’s head to head?

Lost wins hands down.
No way I would miss Lost.

I think you have something there. Was it Henry Gale that Miles was trying to contact?

It’s going to be interesting to see how they keep that baby from growing. The 90 day timeline is kind of hard to believe given the depth of some of the relationships that have formed as well as Charlie’s battle with addiction. Based on all that you would assume they’ve been on the island for a year or so.
